Series from the creators of Game of Thrones and based on the novel by Liu Cixin arrives on Netflix on March 21st, promising a fascinating experience

If you're looking for a new series to binge, you'll enjoy this new feature! Last week, March 7th, Netflix released the final trailer for The 3 Body Problem (3 body issue in the original English), his newest series of Science fiction filled with complex mysteries that come to redefine the science fiction drama genre.

The production is based on the novel of the same name by liu cixin and adapted by David Benioff e DB Weiss, the same creators and multiple Emmy award winners for Game of Thrones, And Alexander Woo, nominated for an Emmy for The Terror (2019) and True Blood (2008-2013).

O 3-Body Problem will feature eight episodes. According to the official synopsis and information released so far, the series' plot begins in China in the 1960s, during the Cultural Revolution. The story follows a young woman who makes a fatal decision in the middle of a secret communication project with extraterrestrials, whose consequences echo through space-time to the present day, reaching the streets of Oxford, England, and the headquarters of the United Nations in New York.

As the laws of nature unfold before the characters, a group of brilliant scientists must come together to face the greatest threat in human history. Everything indicates that Netflix's new production will explore a possible encounter with a mysterious alien entity, which will plunge all of humanity into a complete state of turmoil and chaos.

When it comes to casting, The 3 Body Problem has big names. Benedict Wong, known for his role in Doctor Strange (2016), will take on the role of Da Shi, a former intelligence officer tasked with investigating the mysterious deaths.

The group of young scientists from Oxford will be made up of jess hong, The Brokenwood Mysteries (2014), in the role of Jin Cheng; Jovan Adepo, In the Eyes of Justice (2019), as Saul Durand; Eiza Gonzalez, known for her work in True Loves (2012), playing Auggie Salazar; John Bradley, Game of Thrones (2011), as Jack Rooney; It is Alex Sharp, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (2014), starring as Will Downing.

Other names like Rosalind Chao, Zeng Ziyi, Sir Jonathan Pryce, Ben Schnetzer, Liam Cunningham, Marlo Kelly, Sea Shimooka, Saamer Usmani e Eve Ridley complete the cast.

Direction

So far, it is known that the direction of the first two episodes of the work was carried out by the Hongkonese actor and filmmaker Derek Tsang, son of renowned director Eric Tsang. Tsang became known for directing and writing films such as Soul Mate (2016) and Better days (2019), nominated for an Oscar as Hong Kong's representative for the category of Best International Film. Regarding the remaining six episodes, the list of those in charge of directing has not yet been released.

With an exciting soundtrack, the trailer highlights a world in collapse, without revealing many pieces of the enigma, but it lays the foundations of an intriguing mystery, along with the arrival of an invasion of planet Earth in a scenario surrounded by war and chaos.

Furthermore, at the beginning of the trailer, it is possible to observe a reference to the famous Wow sign!, a strong radio signal received by the team of scientists at Search Institute for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) on August 15, 1977, through the radio telescope big ear in the United States. At the time, many scientists believed it was a message coming from an alien civilization.
