Why does the United States want to ban TikTok?

Additionally, ByteDance is in the process of blocking the forced sale, which also contributes to the delay.
The most direct way for the US to ban TikTok is to remove it from app stores. This will prevent new users from downloading it and deprive existing users of future security updates and bug fixes.
The law prohibits the TikTok in the United States and also that other apps controlled by adversary countries are updated or maintain their presence in the territory.
Positioning of ByteDance and TikTok
Since the threats began, the TikTok has adopted a critical stance towards the United States' decision, arguing that the bill could strengthen other social media companies, which would put thousands of American jobs at risk.
The current spokesperson do TikTok, Alex Haurek, has publicly stated that ByteDance is committed to challenging the law in court. Haurek noted that this legal effort could result in an extension of time if the courts grant a temporary stay of enforcement pending a final ruling.
