If you want to know more about The In Between, adaptation of the autobiographical book by Marcelo Rubens Paiva, who is competing for Oscar 2025, there is still time. Starring Fernanda Torres, the drama also features Fernanda Montenegro e Selton Mello in the cast. The film by Walter salles premiered in all Brazilian cinemas on the day 7 November and continues to be shown in several cinemas until the date of publication of this article. Check availability in your region. See the synopsis:

The film portrays the drama experienced by the Paiva family during the military dictatorship in Brazil in the early 70s. Set in Rio de Janeiro, the film follows the daily lives of Rubens Paiva, his wife Eunice and their five children, who live in a house near the beach, always open to friends. However, the family's life changes drastically when Rubens Paiva is taken by plainclothes soldiers and disappears.

No Golden Globe, which took place in Beverly Hills, California, on January 5, the film The In Between competed in the category of Best Motion Picture Not in the English Language, but ended up losing to Emilia Perez by French director Jacques Audiard. However, the actress Fernanda Torres won the award in the category of Best Actress in a Drama Film beating out big names like Angelina Jolie e Kate Winslet.

At the Oscars, this is the first time that a Brazilian film will compete in the category Best movie, the event's main category. In addition, Fernanda Torres joins her mother as the only Brazilian actresses to have a nomination in the category of Best actress in the history of the award.
