The event also announced the launch date of the Intel Core Ultra processor and announced plans for 2024

During the Lenovo Tech World Brazil 2023, which serves as a subdivision of the big event held in Texas, USA, the company announced news for the end of 2023 and beginning of 2024. Lenovo presented a LIBRAS translation solution that can create texts for those who do not understand sign language and also gave details about the use of artificial intelligence in various aspects of its products. Translation of LIBRAS with subtitles and voice

The novelty that opened the event is aimed directly at hearing impaired people: the company created artificial intelligence that sees and understands the Brazilian Sign Language and then translate this using subtitles and an artificial voice. The care taken with the voice that “speaks” LIBRAS was done by Lenovo and, during the presentation of the idea, it was highlighted that Gustavo Lima's family, who participated in the demonstration, chose the voice that translated the signs made by the hearing impaired person.

The novelty, already in final tests, is expected to be launched on the market at the beginning of 2024 and can be customized for the personal gestures of each hearing impaired person. If there is a special signal that indicates the name of the person or who they know, it will be possible to teach this to artificial intelligence so that mistakes do not happen. The work is done using artificial intelligence developed by the Research & Development team at Lenovo and also runs locally on a company server.

How it works is actually quite simple: a camera detects the signals made by the hearing impaired person and after a few seconds, it creates subtitles and says what the person has just signaled. It took about five seconds for the translation to POUNDS was held in the Lenovo Tech World Brazil 2023.

How will Lenovo boost artificial intelligence?

The company confirmed the launch of AI PCs, which should be the big trend of 2024. Despite seeming like a new idea, artificial intelligence has been present in computers for a long time, in various applications and functionalities. In partnership with the Intel, Lenovo will invest in the launch of machines with the processed intel core ultra, which has an NPU (chip focused solely on artificial intelligence) so that the work can be done locally and with the support of the cloud.

During the event, two notebooks with NPU were presented, but they do not yet have the processor intel core ultra. The first of them is the YogaBook 9i, a 2-in-1 notebook with two OLED screens with 2.3K resolution and a virtual keyboard. But you can also attach a bluetooth keyboard to the model presented during the CES 2023.

The second is a notebook from Lenovo's gamer line, which takes the name of Legion. Little has been said about the device, but the company confirmed that it has an artificial intelligence chip that understands the way its owners play and makes optimizations over time. Both models will be launched in Brazil soon, most expected for the beginning of 2024.

A Lenovo also announced the investment of US$1 billion to develop innovations aimed at the artificial intelligence market. The main focus is to allow more and more companies to use innovations in their daily lives, as technologies advance and make everyday life increasingly productive.

43% of large companies are actively implementing generative AI to automate tasks – one of the uses is the use of Microsoft Copilot on Windows PCs, creating emails, summarizing files and more functions.

A Intel also defined the semiconductor market as a new oil market and, for this to continue growing, an investment of US$ 1 billion will be made in factories in the USA and European Union countries over the next 50 years. Currently, Brazil is in the top 10 of countries that most use artificial intelligence and within the top 5 of those that most use artificial intelligence. ChatGPT in your day to day.

A Intel expects AI to have an impact of 16 trillion dollars by the end of the decade (2030) and improvements are expected so that our daily lives are even more simplified. At the end of the event, the company promised that it will expand the base of AI PCs to more than 100 million customers by 2025. This through Intel Core Ultra. It also wants to greatly enable AI PCs to be a reality.
