A Apple announced, this Tuesday morning (7), during the online event 'Let Loose', its newest processor Apple M4, next embarked on the new iPad Pro with OLED. The new feature arrives with GPU and CPU improvements and highlights its cores for artificial intelligence which, according to the manufacturer itself, “performs better” than any competing chipset.
The new Apple M4
Boarding up to ten CPU cores (four performance and six performance), the new chipset Apple M4 deliver one up to 50% better performance compared to the Apple M2. According to the manufacturer, this is also due to improvements in built-in machine learning accelerators.
The chip is made up of 28 billion transistors and done with second generation 3nm process da TSMC. Additionally, the GPU of the Apple M4 is produced with the same next-generation architecture as the M3. O graphics chip has 10 cores and has the Dynamic Caching feature, which dynamically assigns local memory in hardware, and support for ray tracing e mesh shading.
Regarding the GPU, the manufacturer also promises to deliver performance up to four times bigger than that of the M2, used in the previous iPad Pro. Energy efficiency was also highlighted by the company, which indicated that the new chipset can have the same performance as the M2 consuming only half the energy.
O M4 also presents the Neural Engine Apple's most powerful yet, capable of 38 trillion operations per second, making the chip the most advanced for artificial intelligence on the market (see below).
Another improvement over predecessor models in the M4 is the Display Engine. This part of the chip Apple controls the screen's brightness and color compensation, as well as adjusting ProMotion to reduce the panel's battery consumption.
AI Acceleration
As mentioned previously, the new Neural Engine appears as one of the highlights of the new Apple M4. The component is dedicated to accelerating tasks with artificial intelligence. In all, the chipset has 16 cores to boost programs with AI.
This is the most powerful Neural Engine Apple has ever developed, capable of an impressive 38 trillion operations per second — 60 times faster than the first Neural Engine in the A11 Bionic chip.
Apple
With the power of the Neural Engine, the M4 can perform AI tasks such as quickly cropping the background in videos on the Final Cut Pro with just one touch on the iPad Pro. Apple further emphasizes that the chipset offers superior performance to any neural processing unit found in artificial intelligence PCs today.
More battery life and energy efficiency
Made from an advanced 3nm semiconductor, the M4 provides greater energy efficiency than the previous generation. Apple highlights that the model offers significant battery life, reducing recharging time and minimizing energy consumption throughout its useful life, which makes it, above all, even more environmentally friendly.
O M4 is available in the new iPad Pro with OLED screen. In Brazil, the tablet is being sold from R$12.299. It is expected that Apple will soon equip this processor in its computers and notebooks.
