Less than a week has passed since the official launch of Baldur's Gate 3, the newest RPG produced by Larian Studios, and the game has already become the title with the best review of 2023 No. Metacritic, one of the world's leading review sites. The highest rated game of the year

Released for PC last Thursday, the 3 August, the most anticipated RPG-style game of the year broke records, and expectations are that these numbers will not stop growing. The game currently has 14 reviews and a score of 97, according to Metascore, in addition to an assessment of 9.3 according to website users. Speaking of PC gaming, this is the 7th highest user score of all time on the website, and the critic score also reached 12th best ranking of all time, next to Elden Ring.

The success of BG3

BG3's success comes as no great surprise, as the franchise has enjoyed a dedicated fan base since the 90s. However, its success can be attributed to several key factors, such as the long wait between the release of the last series game, which generated a great hyping. The efforts and excellent marketing work done by Larian Studios also contributed to effectively promoting the game, generating interest through trailers and gameplay. Lastly, the newest mechanics and unique graphics, never seen in the saga, served to attract both old fans and a new generation of players.

The success of the game was so great that it surpassed renowned titles, such as Marvel's Spider-Man 2, EA Sports FC 24 e Madden NFL 24, during its pre-sales on the American PS Store. This not only underscores the influence of the Baldur's Gate franchise, but also highlights the growing popularity of role-playing games compared to other genres.

BG3 delayed on other platforms

Despite the great success of the PC version, PlayStation 5 users will still have to wait a while to enjoy this new experience that has enchanted the gaming world. The PlayStation 5 version was slightly delayed. Initially scheduled to hit the market on August 31, it will now officially launch for Sony's console on September 6 - the same date that Starfield will arrive for Xbox Series S|X and Windows. Unfortunately, there is still no information on the status of Baldur's Gate for Microsoft's video game.
