It took a while, but Bixby will finally be launched in Portuguese in Brazil

After informing that Brazilian Portuguese language support was under development, in 2019, Samsung announced the start of Bixby tests for the Galaxy S10 line.

After long years of waiting, the Samsung announced today, January 22nd, that it is starting testing to launch the Bixby in Portuguese here in Brazil. The South Korean company, since the launch of the virtual assistant, has been questioned about the date of availability of the language, and now, almost 3 years later, the beta version in Brazilian Portuguese will be available.

Initial release for the Galaxy S10

Eduardo Santos, Director of Content and Services Area for Mobile Devices at Samsung Brazil, states that the main differential of the assistant is to simplify the routines of users, allowing them to focus on what is most important in their lives.

“During the testing period, we hope to improve the solution, adapting it to the unique characteristics of the Brazilian public, so that we can offer the best possible service when we officially launch Bixby to our user base”.

Initially, only line users Galaxy S10 will enjoy the assistant's testing phase in Portuguese, and the Samsung states that it will arrive quite complete, as support to understand and visualize native content with the Bixby Vision, in addition to being able to translate text in real time, as happens in Google translator.

Bixby's features

Released along with the line Galaxy S8 on April 21, 2017, the virtual assistant at Samsung follows the operating principle of its direct competitors, such as Siri (Apple), Cortana (Microsoft), Google Assistant (Google) e Alexa (Amazon), performing functions to assist the user in using their smartphone or smart device and automating the routine. Until then, the assistant's language availability, according to the official website of the Samsung, was Korean (South Korea), English, French, German, Italian, Mandarin Chinese, and Spanish.

The main features brought in are the Bixby Hello, showing content such as agenda, weather and personalized content such as what is trending on Twitter, Bixby Vision, Bixby Voice e Sticky notes. In addition, the assistant responds to voice commands, as well as “Hey Google”.

Embedded with continuous learning technology and in an interactive way, the main objective of Bixby is that the use of your device is as personalized and intelligent as possible, whether for opening apps or using services, such as using your smartphone to control a TV compatible with the assistant.
