CES 2024: WHSP Ring, a smart ring with microphone and integrated AI

A Samsung may debut in the smart ring industry in 2024, but other companies present in this segment are aggressively reaching out to be a choice for customers. One of them is the VTouch, which bets on WHSP Ring to avoid shouting when giving a command to a personal assistant. Understand the first details shown at CES 2024.

Smart ring has proximity sensor

The most interesting concept in WHSP Ring is that it has a proximity sensor that allows you to know when the device is closest to your mouth. You know that action of asking everyone around you to be silent when you're about to give a new voice command to Google Assistant or Amazon's Alexa? Leave it in the past.

A VTouch points out that your smart ring can control other connected devices in your smart home. It also has many assistants specialized in day-to-day tasks. One of them shown in CES 2024 is that of an AI Art Curator; another, that of a digital psychiatrist, all of which can be accessed via smartphone through the company's app.

In addition, it also has a button that, in addition to activating some functions, allows security contacts previously registered in the application to be activated as soon as it is pressed five times.

WHSP Ring works with headphones

Connected to a smartphone via Bluetooth, everything said by the device's personal assistant can be heard through the headset connected to the smartphone, whether wired or not. The company remembers that this will allow the user to “talk” to the ring, even in public.

About its battery: the manufacturer emphasizes that, alone, the WHSP Ring works for a day and a half. Its charging case is also capable of delivering another nine days of operation before needing to be plugged in.

Another information is that the microphone can record ambient sound so that, later, the user knows what happened before and after a possible accident. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether it also has a possible sleep and heart rate detector, but apparently this was not included or at least not mentioned.

Availability and price

A VTouch have plans to start a campaign in Kickstarter still in January 2024, but there is still no information on when and for how much the ring will go on sale.
