Here's an excellent tip, tried and tested by a good friend of mine: how to save a iPhone* after he fell into the water.

If this happens to you, immediately follow the steps below:

  1. remove excess liquid with the help of a towel;
  2. put the smartphone inside a bag of rice (or silica);
  3. wait 1 day (or a few hours if you want to risk it).

Ready! If you acted in time (and with a little luck), at the end of the day the smartphone will work again.

Unfortunately, the warranty is void, as it exists on the audio jack of the iPhone a seal that changes color when in contact with liquids, proving what happened. Anyway, the device was saved.

Ana Cristina Oliveira, who works at the Portal of the Band, tested the same procedure. She left the iPhone for 4 days in a bag with rice. The device started working again but it had a small “side effect” – the camera flash is always on.

* Maybe this tip also works for other smartphones and gadgets. It doesn't hurt to test, does it?

Special thanks to friend Delber Antoniassi.
