With 2025 is getting closer and closer, Disney+ releases continue at full steam until the last day of the year. December will feature new films, series and documentaries that promise to please all types of audiences of the streaming service. The highlights include the new series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, a new animation from Marvel Animation with the third and final season of What If...? and Disney Channel brings the series to Brazil Wizards Beyond Waverly Place. Check out all the Disney+ releases in December 2024 below so you can save them to your list and not miss anything.
Series
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew (02/12)
Among the main new features of Disney+ in December 2024, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew follows four children who, after discovering a threat on their home planet, end up lost in the galaxy. The story takes place after Return of the Jedi and the fall of the Empire, in the same period of The Mandalorian. During the plot, young people face challenges to survive, deal with dangers and maintain unity as they cross different territories. Jod Na Nawood, played by Jude Law, emerges as a central element of the narrative. The series seeks to expand the Star Wars universe in an exploration narrative from the perspective of younger protagonists.
The Enchanted Cave (02/12)
The Enchanted Cave is a children's soap opera based on The secret Garden, by Frances Hodgson Burnett. The plot follows Anna (Mel Summers), a seven-year-old girl left at the Rosa dos Ventos boarding school in Milagres, while her father, Dr. Paulo, fulfills a mission. He promises to return on his daughter's birthday, but when that doesn't happen, Anna decides to investigate the reason. During her search, she discovers information about the school, its origins and the mysteries surrounding the place where she lives.
Jung Kook: I Am Still The Original (03/12)
Jung Kook: I Am Still The Original follows eight months of Jung Kook's journey, documenting his dedication and artistic evolution. With never-before-seen interviews, behind-the-scenes footage and performances, the film portrays the moments that culminated in the release of GOLDEN, the artist's first solo album, on November 3, 2023. The production also explores reflections shared by the singer in the interview section suchwita, by Suga, where he revealed details about the creative process of the album.
Light Shop: Between Life and Death (03/12)
Light Shop: Between Life and Death is a South Korean horror series that connects the living and the dead through a lighting store located in a run-down alley. Each character, marked by past traumas, is mysteriously drawn to the place, where the shopkeeper holds secrets that can change their fates. The narrative explores themes of life, death and redemption, while the store serves as a meeting point between the present and the past of those involved.
The Montaners – Season 2 (04/12)
the Montaners is a documentary series that follows the life of the Montaner family, led by singer Ricardo Montaner. The program shows the family dynamics, behind-the-scenes of the artistic careers of Ricardo and his children – including singers Mau, Ricky and Evaluna – and intimate moments that reveal the bonds between them. With exclusive access, the production presents important events, such as musical recordings, tours and family celebrations, in addition to addressing the challenges and joys of balancing personal and professional life.
PJ Masks: Power Heroes Music Videos – Season 1 (04/12)
PJ Masks: Power Heroes – Music Videos is a series of musical shorts starring the pajama-clad heroes Owlette, Gekko, Catboy and Icecub. The episodes invite the audience to sing along with the characters in themed clips that highlight their adventures and abilities. Aimed at children, the production combines music and animation to entertain the little fans of the PJ Masks.
Dream Production – Season 1 (11/12)
Dream Production is a Disney+ series derived from the universe of Inside Out. The plot explores the studio inside Riley's mind, responsible for creating her dreams every night. Led by director Paula Persimmon, the team must deliver dreams on time and within budget. With Riley growing up and her main emotions facing new challenges, Paula also deals with a creative crisis: her successful formula of Rainbow Unicorn and glitter no longer works.
Say Nothing – Season 1 (11/12)
Say Nothing is a series that portrays the period of The Troubles in Northern Ireland, exploring the impacts of armed conflict and the code of silence. The story begins with the disappearance of Jean McConville, a single mother of ten children, abducted from her home in 1972. Over the course of four decades, the series follows members of the Irish Republican Army (IRA), examining their actions and motivations. The production addresses the emotional and psychological costs of extremism and the consequences of a divided society plunged into political violence.
The Tracker (11/12)
The Tracker is a series based on the novel The Never Game by Jeffery Deaver, created by Ben Winters. The story follows Colter Shaw, a skilled tracker and survivor who travels the country solving mysteries in exchange for financial rewards. Shaw works to assist police officers and citizens, whether it's finding missing people or chasing criminals. However, while he dedicates himself to helping others, his personal life is in ruins, with his family in a fragile state. On his latest case, Shaw encounters a situation that changes everything, leading him to face even greater challenges.
Invisible – Season 1 (13/12)
Invisível follows the story of Capi, a 12-year-old boy who, after suffering a serious accident, develops post-traumatic stress disorder. The event that caused his condition remains unknown to his family, friends and school. The plot focuses on Capi's relationship with his psychologist, who seeks to understand the cause of the trauma. Little by little, Capi reveals that he believes he has acquired the power of invisibility and shares his fears, including nightmares about monsters and dragons. The only person who seems willing to help him is a mysterious teacher, who tries to make visible what everyone ignores.
The Simpsons: Double Episode Christmas Special (17/12)
The fans of The Simpsons You can get ready for a special Christmas present this year! The most famous yellow family on TV will star in a Christmas-themed double episode. However, so far, Disney has not released details about the plot or what we can expect from this special. Although the content is still a mystery, the series' Christmas episodes traditionally combine typical humor with touching moments that make us appreciate the Christmas moment. We can only wait for more information that promises to make this Christmas even more fun.
Wizards Beyond Waverly Place (20/12)
Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is the spin-off of Wizards of Waverly Place, which takes place years after the events of the original series. Alex Russo, who won the Family Wizard competition, visits his brother Justin, who now lives a normal life without magic with his wife Giada and children Roman and Milo. The arrival of Alex, accompanied by Billie, a young woman with magical powers, changes his routine. Justin, as a mentor, finds himself responsible for helping Billie deal with her abilities, beginning a new phase in the Russos' lives.
What If…? – Season 3 (22/12)
What If…? – Season 3 is the final season of Marvel's animated anthology series, which explores alternate realities in the MCU multiverse. Each episode features a "what if?" about key moments from the MCU films, with the Watcher, voiced by Jeffrey Wright, narrating the stories. The season includes episodes from different genres, such as a Western with Bucky Barnes, a musical drama with Agatha Harkness, and adventures with the Red Guardian and Shang-Chi. There's also an anime-inspired story where the Avengers use giant robots to fight monsters. Previous characters and storylines return, but Disney is keeping details about the future of the X-Men under wraps.
Selenkay – Season 2 (To be confirmed)
Selenkay is an Argentine fantasy and suspense series that follows Sofía, a 16-year-old girl who seeks stability after moving several times due to her parents' work. When she moves to the quiet village of Río Vivo, she finally believes she has found what she wants. However, a mysterious power linked to water begins to threaten her new life. At the same time, the arrival of the enigmatic Fénix brothers arouses the curiosity of the village, especially Sofía, who feels attracted to Gael, the middle brother.
Films, Documentaries and Specials
The Simpsons Funday Football (09/12)
The Simpsons Funday Football is a special event that brings NFL football to the universe of The Simpsons. On December 9, Disney and ESPN present the Cincinnati Bengals vs. Dallas Cowboys game, broadcast live in the animated world of Springfield. Using Sony’s motion capture technology, the event offers a unique experience, with characters from the series and the Springfield stadium integrated into the game. In the US, it will be shown on Disney+, ESPN+ and NFL+ for mobile devices, and in Brazil, it will be available on Disney+ at 21:00 p.m. (Brasília time). Bart and Homer will support their respective teams, while other characters such as Marge, Lisa and Maggie will have special appearances during the broadcast.
Sugarcane (10/12)
Sugarcane is a documentary that investigates the discovery of unmarked graves at a former Indigenous school in Canada, sparking outrage in the community. The film follows the investigation led by survivors, who confront past abuse and neglect, unearthing painful truths. Throughout the documentary, the survivors seek to break cycles of trauma and historical violence, while exploring the consequences of atrocities committed against Indigenous peoples and the lasting impact on the culture and identity of these communities.
Elton John: Never Too Late (13/12)
Elton John: Never Too Late is a documentary co-directed by RJ Cutler and David Furnish, which was presented at the Toronto Film Festival. The production offers never-before-seen footage of Elton John's concerts, as well as revealing behind-the-scenes footage of his farewell tour, Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, set to take place in 2023. The documentary also explores the singer's personal life, providing details about his handwritten diaries, as well as recent images of him and his family, offering an intimate look at his musical trajectory and legacy.
BLINK (17/12)
BLINK follows the journey of the Pelletier family, whose lives change dramatically when three of their four children are diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa, a rare and incurable disease that leads to severe vision loss. Faced with this devastating news, Edith Lemay, Sébastien Pelletier and their children decide to embark on a journey around the world to enjoy its beauty while they still can. As they fill their memories with stunning destinations and unforgettable encounters, the family’s love, resilience and unwavering sense of wonder ensure that their uncertain future does not define their present.
Doctor Who: Joy to the Worlds (25/12)
Doctor Who: Joy to the Worlds is the 2024 Christmas special of the iconic British series Doctor Who. In the episode, the Fifteenth Doctor, played by Ncuti Gatwa, embarks on an adventure that spans Earth's history and puts the fate of humanity at risk. The plot begins when Joy, a visitor to the London hotel, discovers a secret door that leads her to the mysterious Time Hotel, where dinosaurs and other dangers await. Meanwhile, a deadly plot is underway and an old enemy of the Doctor threatens to destroy human history. Can the Doctor save Christmas in all times and places?
DANNA: We Need to Talk – A Childstar Film (TBC)
DANNA: We Need to Talk – A Childstar Film is a documentary that explores the trajectory of singer Danna Paola and the creation of her album Childstar. The film offers an intimate insight into the artist, revealing the challenges and achievements faced during the album production process.
