Launched in March 2023, the Galaxy A54 5G arrived standing out for bringing the mode nightography — hitherto exclusive to the line Galaxy S — to an intermediate smartphone. Furthermore, it has very competent hardware that allowed multitasking and games to be used without any problems, as well as, of course, an enviable battery life. You can now see all of this in detail in our full review of the smartphone. Come with us!

Design
O Galaxy A54 follow line design Galaxy S 23, launched in the current year. We received the smartphone in black for testing and despite being the simplest of them, it is still very beautiful. As I don't have a very large hand, its size has been a blessing to me, with its 6,4' screen being somewhere between the S23 and the S23 + in this sense.
Speaking of these two, another thing the A54 he inherits from his older brothers the construction, now made of glass as well. The difference lies in the protection technology, here being the Gorilla Glass 5. Another point that won me over right away was its thickness. I got used to using very thin smartphones for years and working with a thicker device gave me much more confidence in the footprint.
On the edges we also have a very beautiful and quality finish, and completely equal to the S23 in the positioning of the buttons and connections. Speaking of connections, it has a USB-C port, accepts up to two chips and also a memory card, but this one in place of the second chip. As usual in the line, there is no 2mm P3,5 jack for headphones.
On the front, we have the screen that occupies about 82% of the area, with a hole at the top for the camera. The fingerprint sensor is under the screen and works great. A really cool differential we have here is the IP67 resistance, guaranteeing protection against dust and water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes.
O Galaxy A54 5G It has 202g and that helps even more with the grip of the device, after all, we don't have a brick in our hands, especially when playing games or when we watch videos or movies. In the box, it came with a 15W charger, the cable, the little key to open the chip drawer and nothing else.
Fabric
The screen 6,4 inches do Galaxy A54 5G has maximum resolution FHD + (1080 x 2340 pixels) and technology Super AMOLED, delivering excellent color quality and wonderful contrast in more colorful and dark scenes.
It even comes with 120Hz and makes a big difference in daily use, videos on YouTube and also in some games that already support the technology. Thanks to the brightness of up to 1000 nits when at maximum, you don't have to worry about the sun hitting the device, after all it will get a good result even under these conditions.
I am the person who tooth and nail defends the Full HD on smartphones and I think that above that you will just be wasting more battery for nothing, so this choice is very right here. The visuals of others Galaxyas the eye comfort, dark mode and others are all around here too.
Battery
Before testing it, I figured this point would be good, but not surprising. In no time I disabled features and I always used the smartphone with a medium to high brightness level and it went from one day off.
The device has a battery of 5000 mAh and autonomy is great. I managed to reach about 7 hours of screen on and the smartphone was still at 24%. However, something that caught my attention is that the Netflix, for example, spent only 5% per hour, as well as the YouTube spent about 14% in 2 hours of use, showing the optimization of the system Samsung.
Although I was quite surprised, it is important to note that this performance was based on my use while testing the product, so this may change depending on your usage profile.
As for loading, the Galaxy A54 supports charging up to 25w. As I mentioned before, in the box we have one of 15w. I have a more powerful and compatible charger at home and honestly, it's not a worthwhile investment if the goal is solely for the A54. I say this because on a 15W charger, the average charge time is 2 hours and on a 25W charger, around 01:30 am.
Performance
A Samsung decided to opt for its own chipset here at Galaxy A54, Exynos 1380 5 nm octa core. The GPU here is the Mali-G68 MP5 and together they manage to deliver a mega competent experience within what is proposed.
Photos are rendered quickly, the device does not heat up and of course, you can enjoy your games with peace of mind. Are you going to run everything on ultra with all the effects? Difficult, but you also won't have any stuttering or ugly graphics.
To accompany the chipset, we have 8 GB of RAM memory and up to 256 GB of storage (UFS 3.1 standard) and allows you to use the RAMPlus up to 8 GB, making it a performance machine.
interface and system
O Galaxy A54 comes from the factory with the Android 13 and with One UI 5.1, newer versions of software from Samsung. This combination brought not only a mega functional and beautiful look, but also excellent optimization for system fluidity and battery life.
Some visual novelties that arrived in this version of the system are the styles, which allow you to leave the system in a single color pattern based on your wallpaper. Another thing is the widget stacks, where you can add several widgets in a single space of the home screen, great for daily control of things.
Finally, the Samsung guarantees that the device will receive four updates from the Android and five years of security updates, meaning it goes up to the Android 17, with updates until 2028.
Frontal camera
And now talking about cameras, let's start with the front, 32 MP, with f / 2.2 wide aperture. In practice, this camera proved to be of excellent quality in the most diverse conditions and around here, the nightography is also present.
Portrait mode does a good crop generally and improves considerably when in better lighting. However, as you can see in the photo below, I used the portrait mode at night with just a strong light in the background and even so the crop was nice.
In other situations, however, there was no middle ground, the photos were incredible in any situation and with excellent image quality. The only problem I noticed when capturing portrait mode is the hair. In some photos, depending on how your hair is, the ends are flat and not very natural.
In video, it records up to 4K30 and delivers a good experience, but without many customizations. If you need more specific things or even a 4K60, in that sense the device is not for you.
Back camera
Now going to the backside of the darling Galaxy A54, we have a triple set of cameras, as follows:
- 50 MP Wide Camera; f/1,8 aperture; has optical stabilization for videos
- 12 MP Ultra Wide Camera; f/2,2 aperture
- 5 MP Macro Camera; f/2,4 aperture
The set of rear cameras of the Galaxy A54 it's good and delivers excellent image quality. However, the highlight is for the main lens, since both the ultra wide as for macro they don't stand out at all. They do the basics, but require excellent light conditions to work well.
An important point to be made about the 50 SM is that they work in a curious way. As we see with the 200 SM No. Galaxy s23 ultra, it uses a technology that gathers several pixels from the sensor into one, improving image quality and leaving it with less noise. Check out some photos taken with the rear cameras:
The camera software Samsung it has also evolved a lot in recent years and practically all the top-of-the-line features eventually reach the intermediate and even entry-level ones. In addition to what is displayed on the app's main screen, when we go to doing more, there are a lot more things to explore.
The way nightography it is present on the front and rear and works automatically when the smartphone detects a low light condition. When it is activated, you will notice that a Moon will appear in the corner of the camera app.
Of course, if you take a photo in absolute darkness, the AI will try to do a miracle, but it will look bad. The idea is just the opposite, to adjust your photos that would look bad in low light conditions and make them better. Check out some photos taken with this mode:
Audio
Even in the world of intermediaries, the Galaxy A54 stands out again by bringing two stereo and high quality audio outputs. Listening to music, playing games and watching videos on this smartphone is great and immersive. This improves thanks to sound certification Dolby Atmos, which even guarantees spatial audio — only when with Galaxy Buds 2 or Buds 2 Pro.
In short, if you, like me, had a smartphone with weak sound and you were tired of not hearing anything when the noise from third parties is too much, this smartphone is for you and it doesn't owe anything to its older brothers in this regard.
Price and availability
O Galaxy A54 is now available for purchase, for the price of R$2.609,10 in cash or R$2.899,00 in up to 10 installments at Magazine Luiza. If you buy the smartphone until April 9th, you can still redeem one Galaxy buds live on the track. At the time I write this review, the available colors are white, green and black. Unfortunately, the purple one has already been completely sold out — but it may be available in other stores.
Furthermore, on the website of Samsung, the same benefit applies to the 128GB version, but you can also choose to receive twice as much storage instead. Galaxy buds live. I honestly expected a higher value for the launch and I'm positively surprised. This value should drop considerably in the coming months and the Galaxy A54 will become mega competitive in the market.
Conclusion
O Galaxy A54 5G became for me, henceforth, the king of intermediaries. It delivers an excellent experience in performance, multimedia and also in cameras. The device has some "cuts" to make it more affordable, but honestly, what was taken doesn't change anyone's day to day.
In addition to these points, the announcement that it will have 5 years of support with updates also makes it an excellent intermediary option and a good investment option, if your smartphone is already falling apart out there.
If you already have one Galaxy A53 and he's doing the job, there's no reason to change. But again, assuming you're itching to switch devices and just like me, don't want or have a fortune to invest in them, the Galaxy A54 it's great for you.
