Taking everyone by surprise at the end of the launch event of the new Galaxy S24, Samsung confirmed that it will enter the smart ring market with the Galaxy Ring. Little is known about the device, but the first image of it has been shared. Look:

What are the possible features of the Galaxy Ring?

The smart ring Samsung Its main purpose will be to monitor the health of its user on an ongoing basis. Of course, other wearables like bracelets and smart watches do this, but a health ring is cheaper for both the manufacturer and the end consumer.

It is almost certain that a real-time heart rate monitor will be present in the accessory, in addition to possibly having support for measuring blood pressure and detecting irregular and often accelerated heart rates that generally cause poor blood circulation.

There are also rumors that it can monitor body temperature and sleep, something that is accomplished by Samsung since the launch of the line Galaxy Watch5.

Patent information shows that the smart ring would support control of connected devices, such as a smart TV. Another patent shows the Galaxy Ring used by a person wearing mixed reality glasses, which may indicate that the device also sends hand tracking information.

Despite the Samsung Having a tradition of presenting up to three variants of its products, it appears that when it launches, there will only be one version of the Galaxy Ring in four sizes. More versions are expected to be released annually.

Another almost confirmed fact is that the device will support the platform Samsung health. The biggest trace that confirms this is the ring-shaped icon found in the application's code base Galaxy Wearable. Look:

With the completion of the first 2024 Galaxy Unpacked, it is expected that the Galaxy Ring be launched between July and August 2024, during the event that presents new smart watches and foldable smartphones. What influences this issue is the approval of the Samsung to sell the device with health regulatory bodies in different countries around the world. In the USA, there is FDA and, in Brazil, there is Anvisa.

Another open piece of information is the price of this device. O Oura Ring 3, the main model in this category, is sold in the USA for US$299 (R$1.473,23 in direct conversion) via its manufacturer's official website. It is not yet known whether the Korean company's model will have a higher or lower price than that.

A Samsung may also invest in launching a subscription plan similar to FitBit's Google, which gives access to exclusive features that can also be used by other company devices, but this has not been confirmed either.
