Expected to be launched in February 2024, the Galaxy S24 had its first images leaked this week. And the photos (or renders) indicate that it will borrow some design references from the iPhone 15, launched in September. See the details:
Galaxy S24 or iPhone 15?
Information from SmartPrix, in partnership with the leaker OnLeaks show a rendering of the Galaxy S24 with a flatter look. If confirmed, the new design shows that the Samsung You will stop using rounded edges on your devices and opt for flatter edges, which can help with day-to-day use. This is already seen at the top and bottom edges of the Galaxy s23 ultra, which differentiate it from the traditional and Plus versions. Check out the video below:
Immediately, several internet users began to comment that the change, which only wanted to appear simple, points directly to the new iPhone 15, presented in early September 2023. The more rounded style may attract some users, but it may also mean that those who like curvier edges end up opting for models from other brands.
What can change and what will be the same between generations?
Later leaks show that the Galaxy S24 will be slightly larger than its predecessor: it will measure 147 x 70,5 x 7,6 mm, while the Galaxy S23 measures 146,3 x 70,9 x 7,6 mm.
The screen is expected to be 6,17 inches in size, dynamic AMOLED and have a refresh rate of 120 Hz, in addition to support for the HDR10+ standard and Gorilla Glass protection. The housing must continue to be made of aluminum, as seen in previous generations. And rumors also suggest that a light blue variant will be presented by Samsung.
The back of the device also appears to have changed: the 2024 model appears to have a matte finish that should improve day-to-day use and also prevent fingerprints. The main lens on the rear should be 50 MP, with the triple set complemented by a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 10 MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The front lens of the Galaxy S24 should be 12 MP, following what was seen in the Galaxy S23. An LED flash should also be available.
Possible processor and battery
Just as Galaxy s24 ultra, the processor of the “simplest” version of Samsung’s new generation of premium smartphones should be the Snapdragon Gen 3, from Qualcomm. We remember that, in 2023, the Samsung closed a partnership with Qualcomm so that a customized processor was “under the hood” of the three models in the Galaxy S23 line, which took the name Snapdragon Gen 3 For Galaxy. It delivers 30% greater power, which is absent in devices from other brands.
The battery should not undergo drastic changes: Samsung is expected to maintain the 3900 mAh capacity of the 2023 model or increase it to 4000 mAh in the new generation. The device, despite being the simplest in the line, must have up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of internal storage, in addition to coming with the Android 14 (via One UI 6) installed from first use.
When will Samsung's new cell phone be made official?
