"Okay, Google" is a useful command to trigger the Google Assistant just with the voice. But sometimes this command can come across as a nuisance. Recently, users report a bigger problem. When speaking the command with another device, the smartphone does not know that it is not the desired interlocutor. it's that bugs leaves the screen on indefinitely, which can lead to battery drain and, even worse, cause burn-in on LCD displays.

The case happens for users who have more than one smart device at home, such as a smartphone and a smart speaker (smart speaker, in Portuguese). When talking "Okay, Google", these devices are activated, waiting for an order.

When talking directly to the speaker, the smartphone remains with the screen on, waiting for the user. This bug can result in serious impacts to the smartphone. At first, the battery can be discharged at great speed, but in the long run, it can even burn your phone screen.

O burn-in effect usually happens on LCD screens. When the same image is displayed for a long period of time, the screen may be marked, even if another image is displayed. This problem is irreversible.

According to the website Android Police, the bug with the Google Assistant has been especially observed for users with smartphones pixel and speakers. However, a user OnePlus 6T reported finding his phone at 1% battery in Assistant popup.

Google still hasn't taken a stand on the Google Assistant problems

This bug has been reported since September on forums, but the company has not yet positioned itself, as it has not released any update that has resolved the problem. Because the problem usually affects smartphones pixel, the company is expected to run to solve the case.

For the moment, all these affected users have to do is keep an eye on their smartphone and manually turn off the screen, locking the device.
