HTC launches Vive XR Elite, VR headset with 4K resolution

Consolidated in the virtual reality glasses market, HTC presented the Live XR Elite as an interesting option compared to the goal quest 2. In addition to having the processor Snapdragon XR2, it also has 4K lens (2K on each side), refresh rate of 90Hz, 12 GB of RAM e 128 GB of internal storage. The model promises to offer triple the power against its main competitor.

HTC wants to go head-to-head with Meta

Weighing 625 grams and a back that can be removed to make wearing traditional glasses even more similar, the Live XR Elite hits the market with two screens that, together, deliver 4K resolution to players and consumers of the most diverse types of existing media. The field of view is 110º, but the good numbers aren't just in the visible components.

This virtual reality headset has a refresh rate of 90Hz, 12 GB of RAM and an internal storage of 128 GB. Initial data indicate that it may have triple the processing of goal quest 2, but this will be answered when the product hits the market.

Its battery is another highlight that would not go unnoticed: the manufacturer confirms that wireless use can be done for about 10 hours. The company also disclosed the battery is compatible with fast charging of 30W and only 30 minutes in the socket guarantee 50% of the battery charge. If you prefer to use it without a battery, but with wires, the model weighs only 240 grams.

Despite having the technical specifications to be a model that can even be chosen in place of the model manufactured by Meta, the Vive XR Elite has the Snapdragon XR2 da Qualcomm, the same as its main competitor. It remains to be seen how HTC took advantage of this processor and whether, in fact, it will deliver 3x more power.

Vive XR Elite has sinternal diopter system

People with myopia may have a certain problem using virtual reality glasses, precisely because their traditional glasses often cause a certain amount of discomfort with the use of the device. To end this, the HTC implanted an internal diopter system that allows customized focus adjustments. This will allow the device to work like traditional glasses, taking into account myopia problems.

For movement tracking to be carried out, the model also has 4 wide-angle cameras, but this can also be done using the two controls sent in the box. Another important detail is that the Live XR Elite can be charged via cable USB-C, already widely used and shipped with various electronic gadgets.

Finally, the new virtual reality headset will have two special accessories: one of them allows for eye tracking and the other is focused on full face tracking.

Availability of new virtual reality headset

With a launch date set for the end of February around the world, the suggested price of the Live XR Elite will be US$ 1.099 (R$ 5.758,68 in direct conversion). The box has the product, a pair of headphones, battery and two controllers. It is expected that it will also be sold with a package of games and / or applications, but there is still no information on what these options would be.

HTC also disclosed that a business bundle for the Live XR Elite will be presented during your visit to the Mobile World Congress, which takes place between February 27th and March 02nd, 2023. We can only wait to see if the model will be accepted by users as much as the models of the Meta they're gone.
