Several users of Twitter and other social networks are sharing that the Instagram crashed and is having trouble sending direct messages (DMs). despite many tweets are reporting the same problem, there is always that doubt - and the joke - if the problem is the Instagram off the air or your internet.
If you have questions, there are a few ways they can answer these questions for you. Check out some tips below:
Make sure you are using the latest version of the app
Like Instagram is almost exclusively a service based on mobile technology (the web version exists, but it is very little used), it is always a good idea to check that the app is up to date before starting to analyze other causes for the problems you are experiencing. (But it's worth checking that your smartphone has a good quality internet connection and working via Wi-Fi or 3G/4G first.)
Users of the Android must visit the Google Play Store and tap the three lines in the upper left corner. In the menu that appears, select My apps e games > Updates. You will see a list of the various apps that have newer versions available. If the Instagram is there, be sure to tap the Update button to the right of its name.
Users of the iPhone will need to open the App Store, tap the tab Updates at the bottom of the page and look for the Instagram in the displayed list. If it is present, tap the Update button next to its name.
Once the update is downloaded and installed, launch the app and hope your problem is fixed.
Check the Instagram Help site
If your app is up to date but you're still having issues, it's worth checking if the Instagram has crashed or is experiencing interruptions in its service. The easiest way to do this is by visiting the social network. Here you will find several options available in the panel on the left of the page.
The one you want to select is Known Issues. This displays, as the name suggests, any problems that the Instagram are currently finding. It's not quite a style page to tell the user that “Instagram is offline”, but through this option you can review the listed issues to see if any of them match your current situation.
Try an independent website to check if Instagram is down
The last resort to find out if Instagram is down is to try one of the many independent sites that track the performance of social networks across the Internet. They are free, very easy to use and can give you a clear answer as to whether the problem is with the websites servers or with your device.
The site we recommend is DownDetector. It features a detailed history of how the site has performed over the past few days, as well as feedback from users who are having issues with the site.
O DownDetector even has quick links you can access to find ways to complain about a problem with Facebook, Twitter and also in the Instagram. All complaints go straight to that service's support, helping the technology team identify instabilities faster and possibly getting the services back to the normal operation that was happening earlier.
Keep an eye out for Twitter
As reported above, a great thermometer to know if any social network is down is to check the trends do Twitter. Naturally, the more users report problems with something, in which case the Instagram, it will appear on Trends followed by several testimonials – and memes! Check out some comments made on the net:
