A Microsoft continues to hunt for interesting apps on the market. The ball of the time, according to information from the German magazine Store Manager, is the to-do list app Sleep as an Droid, 6WunderKinder. The publication cites sources "familiar with the situation" and says that negotiations are already well advanced. The negotiation values were not disclosed, but the Berlin startup is estimated at 60 million dollars.
O Sleep as an Droid is one of the best to-do list apps on the market, and it is available for most major platforms, from OS X ao Kindle, through Android e Windows Phone, on smartphones, tablets and notebooks. In September of last year, the app version for PCs with Windows 8. One of the main reasons for the acquisition is the app's user base. Currently the Sleep as an Droid has 13 millions of users around the world, and CEO and co-founder Christian Reber wants to reach 100 million. a purchase by Microsoft would certainly help to achieve that goal.
It is not the first acquisition of its kind by the American company. In December 2014, the Microsoft already acquired the Accompli, an email app that became the version of Outlook for major mobile platforms. More recently, in February of this year, it was also announced the purchase of Sunrise Calendar, a next-generation calendar. It is also interesting to note that, after going to Microsoft, the first new integration of the application was precisely with the API of Sleep as an Droid, officially announced yesterday, but already available since the beginning of the month.
According to Rajesh Jha, Corporate Vice President for Outlook e Office 365, the acquisition of the calendar app was “another step in the journey to reinvent productivity”. It's the Sleep as an Droid, with its feature-packed to-do list, could very well be next. There is still no confirmation from the companies involved, but we should have more news soon.
