During CES 2021, the world's largest technology fair, the Samsung presented new technologies for its smart TVs and many of these novelties will arrive in Brazil later this year. The company's portfolio now has names like NeoQLED, micro LED e Mini LEDs. To understand each of the launches, we talked to a company spokesperson and told you everything in detail!
NeoQLED
One of the highlights was the new category, called NeoQLED, which features the quantum dot screen, known for delivering more vivid and faithful colors to the original images, but now with novelties that improve this technology. To better explain this new line, we interviewed the Guilherme Campos, Senior Product Manager of the TV and Audio areas at Samsung Brazil, and he told us how this novelty works.
The conventional LED is now composed of an acrylic protection, not an entire structure that holds the LED (and the LED chip) inside. This entire structure decreased by around 40 times; Now the LED has a small speck on the TV. You can fill the panel with many more LEDs in the new Neo QLED. Guilherme Campos, Senior Product Manager for TV and Audio at Samsung Brasil.
The great differential of Neo QLED is that there is a new light source to generate the images. technology call Quantum Mini LEDs, it is a screen of light that is behind the main, made up of much smaller LEDs than the conventional one. Coming in 8K and 4K resolution models, Neo QLED TVs will bring high contrast ratio and are able to optimize the dynamic range experience of the screen, or HDR, to make everything more immersive and comfortable for those who watch.
MicroLED and Mini LED
Another novelty of the year in addition to the Neo QLED are the TVs MicroLED, which are now aimed at the public, and no longer exclusively for commercial use. On 99-inch and 110-inch models, with smaller sizes coming later in the year (like inform the manufacturer), the screens have individual lighting pixels and have a borderless design. Since there are so many news related to the technologies of displays, it is good to keep in mind how Mini LEDs and MicroLED are different.
As the spokesperson informs, the Mini LED:
[…] it is a product that will be more popular in the market; MicroLED is a more niche product. This second one brings a technology where the focus is on precision. While the Mini LED is a super tiny LED, which you can control the lighting much better, the MicroLED is even smaller, being able to illuminate a pixel individually.Guilherme Campos
So the light display control goes from pixel em pixel, which turns this technology into a self-immersion of light. Therefore, there is everything there is to be controlled from the contrast, with great precision. Guilherme also made a comparison between the new QLED TVs and the famous technology of displays OLED. As he tells us, in his view this difference is big.
In addition to new types of , there is one more highlight when we talk about the smart home system from Samsung. O Smart Things, which unifies several products into a single ecosystem, will now work even with Gadgets that do not have Bluetooth or Wi-Fi technologies. If you have a fan controlled via infrared, for example, from the moment you give a command (in the control of the device itself), the smart TV will understand that there was a signal change and it will ask if it should record the command, unifying the product to the connected ecosystem.
With support for Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and the familiar system Bixby from Samsung, smart TVs recognize voice commands to control all types of equipment, even third-party ones. Speaking of control, another novelty is the remote control, which was part of Samsung's eco-sustainable pillar in the CES 2021 announcements. Coming first for the models premium of TVs like the Neo QLED, the control is made of recyclable material and will have the functionality to recharge the battery by sunlight or internal light.
Ecological awareness is also in the packaging, as Samsung will maintain the 2020 initiative, which was previously only on the line lifestyle, and launch the new TVs with reusable packaging. With less paint on the outside, the box can become a coffee table, bookshelf and even a house for your pet.
Finally, even though we don't have an exact date for the arrival of TVs here in Brazil, Guilherme concluded our conversation with a prediction:
Today we foresee the launch of the official line for the second quarter and immediately after the launch to the media we start delivering the launches to retailers.
