In a quick event held on his channel YouTube, Apple launched two versions of the new iPad Pro 2024, which arrives with several new features and the new M4 processor from Apple. Find out the details right now.
Design
advertised as the “Thinnest iPad ever”, iPad Pro 2024 arrives on the market with just 5,1 millimeters of thickness in the larger screen model. The model with the smaller screen measures 5,3 millimeters thick.
Thickness is the big highlight in the design in relation to the 2022 iPad Pro, and the company claims that it is thinner than the late iPad Nano.
screen sizes
The model continues with two screen sizes: 11 and 13 inches. The weight of the 13-inch model is 582 grams, while the 11-inch model weighs just 446 grams. As we said above, the larger model is a little thinner than the smaller model.
A Apple highlights that it made a small change to the layout of the front camera that we will talk about later, but basically this was done to facilitate the use of tablets in horizontal mode.
Display type
Regarding the screen, the Cupertino company left the LCD in the last generation to now invest in panels OLED, to deliver richer black tones, improved contrast and more vibrant colors. Regarding the refresh rate, it was promised that ProMotion technology will adapt the screen to display activities from 10Hz to 120Hz.
The main difference in this OLED screen is the technology called Tandem OLED, an OLED panel with two overlapping layers — as if it were one screen on top of another — that provides sharper, brighter images. This technology can be considered a new updated version of Ultra Retina XDR, present in the 2022 iPad Pro.
The peak brightness of Apple's new tablets is 1.000 nits in SDR or HDR content, but the company points out that it can reach up to 1.600 nits in some situations. The company mentions that the user experience “It’s like holding a cinema in your hands”.
Screen glass
A Apple chose to install a new glass that bears the name of nano texture glass. This layer can maintain image quality in different occasions and lighting situations, in addition to also having an anti-reflective layer for outdoor use.
During the event, situations with lighting were shown, so Apple's new tablet for 2024 could be a good option for different types of users, from traditional consumers who only use it for entertainment or even for work.
Colors
The new iPad Pro 2024 will be available in two colors: Silver and Space Black.
CPU
O iPad Air 2024 The new Apple M4 processor debuts, focused on artificial intelligence activities in this and more products launched by the Cupertino company that arrive throughout the year.
The chip has a three-nanometer architecture (second generation), in addition to having a CPU with 10 cores, 4 for performance and 6 for energy efficiency. Compared to the 2 M2022, Apple guarantees a 50% performance gain.
GPU
The GPU has 10 cores to take care of graphics activities and Apple promises that, for the first time on iPads, the models have support for Ray Tracing, which provides better shadow illumination in darker scenes.
NPU
The NPU of M4 chip da Apple it has 16 cores to take care of artificial intelligence activities, carrying out 38 trillion operations per second.
Although companies have been looking more at artificial intelligence activities in just the last two years, the Apple recalled that it has been investing in these resources for a long time, through Neural Engine, which debuted on the chip A11 Bionic present in the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X models.
The use of NPU can be seen in the new version of Final Cut Pro, which can now render 2x faster. Another new feature is the support for showing images from up to four different iPhones in real time, so that the preview of the capture can be seen without delays. Editing can also be done at the time the images are recorded.
Already Logic Pro, aimed at music production, also gained a new version for the new iPad Pro. In addition to helping musicians create their songs, the application gained a feature that allows a single recording to be divided into different parts: voice, effects and instruments .
Back camera
There is only a 12 MP camera with ƒ/1.8 aperture that the Apple promises to capture photos and videos in SmartHDR quality with even more vibrant colors, as well as better textures, even in low-light locations. There is also the LiDAR sensor for depth measurement. The device also has 4 studio-quality microphones for those who make a lot of video calls or record content directly on the iPad Pro.
The flash, which takes its name from TrueTone, stands out for being able to identify, via AI, the capture of documents. When this is done, several photos will be taken at the same time and merged into one to eliminate shadows and other problems that could cause viewing problems.
The same image correction process can be done by the rear camera with digital zoom of up to 5x. The rear camera records videos in 4K at 24 fps, 25 fps, 30 fps or 60 fps, in addition to support for taking photos in panorama mode at up to 63 MP, advanced red-eye correction, photos with geolocation and automatic image stabilization .
Frontal camera
The camera on the front of the iPad Pro 2024 also hits the market with 12 MP with ƒ/2.4 aperture and support for the TrueDepth, which has been changed to horizontal mode. This will help the resource Center Stage (Central Stage) to maintain automatic framing of participants in a video call.
The front camera records 1080p HD-quality video at 25 fps, 30 fps, or 60 fps, plus time-lapse video with stabilization, extended dynamic range for video up to 30 fps, and cinematic video stabilization (1080p and 720p).
