In this Thursday (18/09/2025), NVIDIA (NASDAQ: NVDA) and Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) announced a historic strategic alliance to develop generations of products in AI, datacenter infrastructure, and personal computing, uniting CPUs and GPUs in a way never before seen in the x86 ecosystem. Learn more:

What was announced

  • A Intel will design and manufacture custom x86 architecture CPUs for data centers in NVIDIAThese chips will be integrated into the company's AI infrastructure platforms.
  • For the PC market, Intel will develop system-on-chips (SoCs) that combine x86 CPUs with chiplets. NVIDIA RTX GPUs, seeking to deliver hybrid performance on personal devices.
  • Part of the agreement includes an investment of US $ 5 billion da NVIDIA in common shares of Intel, at a price of US$23,28 per share.

Agreement Structure

Companies will focus on seamlessly connecting the architectures of NVIDIA and Intel using the NVIDIA NV Link — joining forces of NVIDIA in AI and accelerated computing with the leading CPU technologies of Intel and the x86 ecosystem, to offer cutting-edge solutions to customers.

For data centers, Intel will build custom x86 CPUs for the NVIDIA, which will be integrated into the company's AI infrastructure platforms and offered to the market.

For personal computing, Intel will build and deliver x86 SoCs (system-on-chips) that integrate NVIDIA RTX GPU chiplets. These new x86 RTX SoCs will power a wide range of PCs that require the integration of world-class CPUs and GPUs.

A NVIDIA will invest $5 billion in Intel common stock, at a purchase price of $23,28 per share. The investment is subject to customary closing conditions, including necessary regulatory approvals.

The transaction takes place at a delicate time for the Intel, which has been struggling to maintain its leadership in the sector, especially in the AI chip market, where NVIDIA It has excelled.

In the short term, we can expect early introduction of hybrid SoCs to Gaming PCs, workstations or notebooks aimed at digital creators; in the server market, possibly offerings from NVIDIA with CPUs Intel customized to accelerate AI and inference workloads.

In the medium term, new hardware and software architectures that enable gains in energy efficiency, lower latency in local AI, and greater autonomy for devices that use machine learning models.

Press conference

The CEOs of NVIDIA and the Intel will hold an online press conference at 14 p.m. (Brasília time) today to discuss the announcement. The broadcast will be available to the public through this link.
