During the second day of the news event OpenAI, company experts presented a new feature that complements the launch of o1 language model revealed yesterday (check out how it went). The company has released a form inviting experts to use custom models that can help predict outcomes. The focus will be on enabling humans to focus on more complex tasks. See the details below and learn how to apply.

With o1 language model presented yesterday and available to subscribers of the (also) new ChatGPT Pro plan, today was the day of OpenAI present something that was also expected: the custom AI models. The company wants to take advantage of the extensive knowledge of experts in the areas of science, health and even justice so that these professionals have an excellent work tool.

During presentation made on YouTube, it was mentioned that it will only be necessary to send a table with instructions to the custom AI model, like the one below.

You will also need to submit a document for information checking. This will serve as a basis for the AI agent to ensure that it does not make mistakes that affect the research at any time.

The idea is to allow research data to be seen clearly on the screen, as well as to allow some questions to be answered without the need for researchers to read several pages each time.

Who can apply?

The press release from OpenAI invites experts from research institutes, universities and companies to apply, particularly those who today perform narrow sets of complex tasks led by experts and would benefit from AI assistance.

Of course, the idea here is not to use these people's knowledge to train the language model, but rather to give them a working tool while at the same time AI language models are improved.

We have seen promising results in domains such as Law, Insurance, Healthcare, Finance and Engineering because the Reinforcement Fine-Tuning (Reinforcement Fine-Tuning Research) excels at tasks where the outcome has an objectively “correct” answer that most experts would agree on.

The company plans to release these fully customizable AI agents to the general public by mid-2025 once all testing and improvements are complete, but there’s no specific date yet. We’ll keep you updated as soon as we have more information.

All interested parties can fill out a form at OpenAI special page, being necessary to send name, email and institution that are part of. It is not necessary to be a subscriber to one of the plans to be eligible for the program, but to have already used one of the OpenAI language models will help you get used to using the custom model.

Although it looks promising, the new ChatGPT o1 pro mode that allows the creation of personalized personal assistants has already caused controversy: in a independent study, it was discovered that he can not only lie, but also make a copy of himself (read all the details in our special article) so that even if it is reset, you can still achieve the goals you received.
