The Chinese company's new bet for the more premium market, the Oppo Find X8 was announced on Thursday for the Chinese market, but the company, with an eye on photography fans, has already confirmed that it will arrive in more countries in 2024. See the details and what to expect from the model.
Design and canvas
The line Oppo find x8 will have two variants: a traditional one and the Oppo Find X8 Pro. The models have no aesthetic similarities and, in fact, what really changes are their cameras and battery capacity. Both will be launched in the colors black, white, blue and pink.
The AMOLED screen of the new smartphones from Oppo It has 6,59 inches (the most common version being a flat screen and the Pro being a curved screen) and a variable refresh rate of 01 Hz to 120 Hz, depending on the type of activity performed. The displays have a peak brightness of 4.500 nits and FHD+ resolution (1256 x 2760), as well as support for Dolby Vision and HDR10+ technologies.
Both smartphones hit the market with IP68 resistance, allowing them to operate in the event of dust ingress or submersion in fresh water up to 1,5 meters deep for up to thirty minutes. Immersion in salt water is not recommended. Charging is done via a USB-C input and the fingerprint reader is under the screen.
The model also has a capture button that is reminiscent of what we saw at the launch of the iPhone 16, with practically the same functions: it can be used to open the camera with one touch, control the camera zoom and also used to open other applications when receiving two touches.
Oppo has also placed another button that goes by the name of Alert Slider and will be aimed at removing notifications from the screen with just one finger.
Processor
The two new smartphones from Oppo arrive on the market with the processor Mediatek Dimension 9400, aimed at high-performance activities. This processor is the big competitor of Apple's A18 chip and Snapdragon 8 Elite, presented by Qualcomm earlier this week. We'll just have to wait and see which one will offer better long-term performance when day-to-day testing is released.
Operational system
Os Oppo find x8 e Oppo Find X8 Pro were launched in China with the Android 15 factory installed from day one, via ColorOS 15. The Chinese company promised at least three years of security updates and another three years of updates, with models going up to Android 18.
Memory and storage
In its Chinese version, the model was launched with two RAM memory options: 12 GB and 16 GB. Regarding internal storage, it will also be possible to choose between two options: 256 GB or 512 GB, which can be combined with the two RAM memory options (256 GB + 12 GB RAM, 256 GB + 16 RAM, 512 + 12 GB RAM or 512 GB + 16 GB RAM).
MagSafe support
Oppo surprised its users by bringing the brand's MagSafe accessories to its new premium line. It will be possible to recharge smartphones wirelessly with a capacity of up to 50W, in addition to an accessory to keep the device cool, which was also seen in the promotional video.
However, you will need to buy cases developed by Oppo to access these features. It's similar to the famous Moto Mods from the Moto Z line, where users could improve their day-to-day use by purchasing accessories manufactured by the same company that launched the phone. Let's see how this will work (and how much it should cost) in practice.
Battery
The standard version of the Oppo Find X8 was launched with a 5630 mAh battery, while the Oppo Find X8 Pro has a 5910 mAh battery for even longer battery life. The company did not comment on the total battery life of the models, but an 80W charger will be included in the box, in addition to support for 50W wireless charging.
Cameras
And here's the big difference between the models: the Oppo Find X8 Pro comes with two 50 MP telephoto cameras: one with 3x optical zoom and the other with 6x optical zoom. The Oppo find x8 The Pro only has a telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The models share a 50 MP main lens of the wide type and another 50 MP, but of the ultrawide type.
Oppo's new smartphones record videos in 4K quality at 60 fps, both from the rear and from the front lens, which can take photos in 32 MP. Oppo also confirms that the device supports HDR in photos and Dolby Vision for videos.
There is also a self-manufactured ISP Oppo which the company says performs complete photo processing. The models also feature artificial intelligence that can erase more than 120 objects, present in Oppo Reno11 F 5G
Price and availability
Launched in China on October 24th, the Oppo find x8 will be sold from 4.199 Chinese Yuans (R$ 3.366,22 in direct conversion), while the Pro version will be sold from 5.299 Chinese Yuans (R$ 4.248,06 in direct conversion).
The line will hit the market in November, with no specific date mentioned at the moment. The company has not yet confirmed the launch, but market experts have suggested that it will be done gradually, with the India being the first country chosen.
