Starting this Tuesday (30), Google Wallet users will be able to make Pix payments directly from the app, facilitating transactions.

A Google Wallet, an app where you can register credit and debit cards, buy transport tickets and even add documents, now it will also do payments by Pix. The new functionality will be tested starting this Tuesday (30), by selected users, and will soon be available to everyone. Understand how it will work:

Once available, a special section in the Google Wallet will appear, giving you the option to do payments or transfers via Pix, using keys or QR Code. The user will then need to register their bank and provide their CPF, so that they can make payments with it.

It will be possible to register different bank accounts in the Google Wallet and, when making the transfer or payment, the selection can be made for the money to leave the account that the user desires.

Elisa Joia, head of Google payments operations for Latin America, explained that the entire validation process will be done through the Open Finance, the Central Bank's open financial system (BACEN) that allows the exchange of information between banking institutions.

For the operation to be completed, approval from the financial institution will be required, combined with one of the cell phone's secure unlocking methods, with biometric authentication by fingerprint, face or entering the PIN number. And this will be necessary every time a payment or transfer is requested, so that security is not left aside at any time.

Google continues to invest in Brazil and one of our objectives is to offer the best digital wallet for Brazilians. We have collaborated with industry and regulators to ensure a solid presence and a quality product. Having Pix as a payment method is a natural move to fully meet the country's payment demands.

In cases of theft, Elisa explained that customers can request the account to be disconnected from the stolen smartphone, through Find My Smartphone website, the same one that manages the user's Android devices. When carrying out this process, all financial data, including bank accounts and cards, will be erased from the device.
