The chinese Huawei just launched the new smartwatch Watch Fit Special Edition in Brazil, edition commemorating the first smart watch in the line Watch fit launched in 2021, but with new features, sensors and integrated GPS. O showmetech received a unit for evaluation, and we now show our impressions.
The new SmartWatch Huawei Watch Fit Special Edition it is not very different in appearance from previous versions of the line. The silicone bracelet has a good adjustment range and is available in three colors: Nebula Pink (pink), Starry Black (black and Forest Green (green).
The body has a satin finish on the sides with colors that match the straps, is 10,7mm thick and 30mm wide, an understated yet elegant design. The frame is made of polymer and the screen 1,64-inch AMOLED com resolution of 456×280 pixels e PPI 326 (pixels per inch) has balanced brightness and color that adapts both indoors and outdoors.
The watch has only one button on its side, responsible for turning on the screen and accessing the main menus of the operating system.
A Huawei equipped the watch with more than 10.000 different types of layouts that can be downloaded from the brand's app. The watch face is also customizable and works with artificial intelligence to create interesting color patterns through gallery photos. The way Always On Display It has a modern look to leave the screen always active.
On the back of the smartwatch, we find the dual heart rate and blood oxygenation sensor, in a centralized position. Still on the back, there are battery charging contacts, which have a magnetic fit to attach the charger in the correct position.
Resources and Performance
The smartwatch comes equipped with an operating system HarmonyOS 2.1, developed by Huawei, being compatible with Android 6.0 or higher and iOS 9.0 or higher. To link to the smartphone, just download the app HUAWEI Health for Android via QR Code on the company's website or in the app store iPhone (AppStore).
With the app downloaded, restart or turn on the watch for the first time and scan the QR Code that will appear on the screen, accept the linking request and then configure the functions in the app itself.
The operating system supports features such as: weather forecast, date and time, location, view and reply phone notification, health monitoring, step count, stopwatch, flashlight, remote shutter (take phone pictures from the watch), media control and important sensors that we will talk about later.
The interface is easy and intuitive to use and the configuration, done through the device itself or through the cell phone application, is effortless.
The Watch Fit Special Edition has a 6-axis IMU inertial sensor (with accelerometer and gyroscope) and an optical heart rate sensor, which is very sensitive. The connection is made exclusively via Bluetooth 5.2, however the device does not have a microphone or speakers for audio transmission.
The only negative point I found among the features of Huawei Watch Fit Special Edition is that not all are compatible with iOS, so I couldn't answer messages through the watch, for example. I was wondering what other features are limited to Android compatibility.
As it is a smart watch designed for athletes, much is expected from its monitoring capability during physical activities. A Huawei promises to follow all WHO health recommendations regarding the sensors available in the accessory.
First I want to talk about TruSleep 3.0, a sleep monitoring sensor that is 10% more sensitive than the previous Watch Fit, which checks your multidimensional sleep score and metric and provides reports with tips on how to improve your nighttime routine. Also contains function Do not disturb e timer.
I used the feature a lot to understand how the smartwatch would offer me improvements in my sleep routine. To set up sleep monitoring, you need to use the mobile app.
In fact, the sensor proved to be very sensitive, capturing my heart rate and blood oxygenation to monitor moments of deep sleep (Deep Sleep), light sleep (Light Sleep), moments of awakening and dreaming (REM).
Already TruSeen 5.0 it is the sensor that monitors the heartbeat 24 hours a day, with improved 10% improvement over the previous version. With it, the smart watch sends alerts when heart levels are too high, especially during high-intensity activities.
During weight training exercises, the device vibrated when I felt very tired and then vibrated again during rest breaks. I didn't receive any alert per se because I probably didn't pass any level, but I was able to monitor my training and performance in the gym, approved.
O Watch Fit Special Edition still has other sensors, which are Continuous SpO2 (oxygen) tracking, Stress Monitoring e Menstrual Cycle Monitoring.
Last but not least, this model has Integrated GPS, using satellite data to monitor rides and runs and track data such as distance and speed. The watch is also capable of generating performance reports and tips to improve sports practice.
There are 100 exercise modes with pro-level analysis of 12 training modes such as running, cycling, swimming and dancing. In addition, the device is capable of detecting 6 modalities on its own: indoor and outdoor running, indoor and outdoor walking, elliptical training and rowing.
O Huawei Watch Fit Special Edition tracks workouts thoroughly to deliver suggested recovery times for each activity, training frequency and load, VO2MAX (a numerical measure of the body's ability to consume oxygen) and RAI (running ability index). The user has detailed data of his own physical conditioning as he exercises, being able to evaluate performance improvements on a daily basis.
To consult detailed reports and health and training data, check the mobile application. Of course, a longer period of use is required to obtain detailed information about health and physical performance, but the application is very complete and gives important tips for everyday life.
A Huawei promises fast charging and long-lasting battery, requiring only 5 minutes in the socket to deliver a full day of battery and 45 minutes for 6 days of battery in typical use and 9 days in moderate use.
The device took just over 30 minutes to complete the charge, on days when I was in a hurry I left the device plugged in for about 10 minutes and got 30% battery. In terms of battery life, the result was 7 days of battery life on typical use days, and on moderate use such as in the gym with frequent data tracking, 5 days in total.
I did not find information about power and battery size.
The smartwatch Huawei Watch Fit Special Edition it is a very beautiful device, practical and comfortable most of the time. I particularly have a certain difficulty adapting to smart watches because I have a thin wrist and most are uncomfortable after a certain time of use, with the Watch Fit SE, I had almost no problems, the bracelet is extremely soft, comfortable and highly adjustable.
I was upset about not being able to use all the features of the smart assistant because the operating system is not 100% compatible with iOS, but they are only at very specific points. Overall, the watch worked very well and delivered a satisfying experience.
This edition is an updated version of other smartwatches already released by Huawei, but which compared to its brothers (mainly the Watch Fit 2), does not show so many improvements beyond the 10% of upgrade No. TruSeen e TruSleep, some features and the addition of integrated GPS. Overall, he ends up being pretty similar to his brothers.
It is an interesting smartwatch for those looking for something beyond the basics without spending too much, but for old device users Huawei may end up not bringing much news. I particularly liked it and would buy the Watch Fit SE as my first smartwatch, but as a more experienced user, I would save some money and opt for more expensive models. premium.
For those interested, the watch can be found at R$ 399 in the Amazon store.
