Officially presented in 2024, the microphone HyperX QuadCast 2 S has arrived with improvements in both sound quality and design. Aimed especially at content creators, streamers, and YouTubers, it has features that elevate the recording experience. See what we thought of it in this review:
Design

At first glance, the first welcome change: the HyperX QuadCast 2 S It's now made with better materials that won't peel or damage over time (the previous version was made of a type of plastic that turned into a "slime" over time). The body is also slightly more cylindrical, with straighter lines at the top and bottom and a dark finish that enhances the contrast with the perforated audio pickup area, which also houses the customizable RGB lighting (controlled via the app).
O rotary knob, located on the front of the microphone, is now multifunctional. It allows you to switch between four polar patterns (cardioid, omnidirectional, bidirectional, and stereo, which we'll explain later) and also adjusts the audio gain (voice volume), headphone volume (if you connect any), and the mix level between monitoring and system feedback. The functions alternate by pressing the knob, and you adjust the levels by turning it.

There is also a touch-sensitive button to disable audio recording, on top of the microphone. You can tell the microphone is active by the active RGB light, which turns off completely when you tap and activate "mute mode."

On the back, the QuadCast 2 S features a port USB Type-C, responsible for power and data transmission, in addition to an input P2 (3,5 mm) for headphones, ideal for monitoring gain and quickly noticing any interference or distortion without relying on external software.
And the lower base brings support for 3/8” threads e 5 / 8 ", allowing you to easily install the microphone on articulated arms and other professional stands.

From the factory, the model is already coupled to a cushioned support also, it protects the microphone against environmental vibrations and has height adjustment for ideal positioning.

Audio quality

One of the main advances of the HyperX QuadCast 2 S compared to its predecessor is in the audio quality. The brand updated the digital conversion, which now goes from 16 bits to 32 bits, with a sampling rate of up to 192kHz. This is impressive for a USB microphone aimed at home use, without the need for an external audio interface.
In practice, this provides cleaner, more accurate, and more detailed pickup, with less distortion and a more balanced frequency response. The sound delivered by QuadCast 2 S It has smooth highs, well-defined mids, and bass with presence without being overdone. For those who record voice, podcasts, YouTube videos, or live streams, this represents gains in clarity and final timbre.
Collection patterns

One of the great differentials of HyperX QuadCast 2 S is the presence of four capture patterns, also called polar patterns. These define which directions the microphone picks up sound most intensely, allowing you to adjust the recording to the type of content being produced. See the available modes:
- Cardioid: This is the standard most used by streamers and content creators. It captures sound primarily from the front of the microphone, reducing noise from the sides and back, making it ideal for voice recordings, podcasts, live streams, and videos in general.
- omnidirectional: Picks up sound evenly from all directions, making it ideal for group conversations, video calls, or environments where surrounding sound is also important.
- Bidirectional: captures sound from the front and back, ignoring the sides, making it ideal for face-to-face interviews or duets.
- Stereo: captures sound with separation between left and right sides, creating a sense of depth and space, ideal for musical recordings, ASMR or content that requires a more open sound field.
Connectivity and compatibility

O HyperX QuadCast 2 S is an plug and play USB microphone, which means you don't need an audio interface or additional drivers to get started. It works on computers with Windows, MacOS and even on some mobile devices if they support USB audio.
In the box, the microphone comes with a cable USB-C to USB-C meters of 3, offering freedom of positioning even in larger setups. It also comes with an adapter USB-C for USB-A, ensuring compatibility with most computers and notebooks on the market.
HyperX NGENUITY Software

O HyperX QuadCast 2 S is compatible with the software HyperX NGENUITY, available free of charge for Windows. Once the program is installed, it recognizes the microphone, which appears in the side tab. Click on it to begin configuration. as “Microphone".

In the interface, you will find two main tabs: Audio (image above) e Lights (image below). In the audio tab, you can adjust the microphone volume, headphone output volume, monitoring mix level, and mute or unmute the microphone (recording sound). In fact, these app controls are the same physical controls already available directly on the microphone. The exception is the high-pass filter, which can only be activated via software and helps reduce unwanted bass noise, such as tabletop knocks or ambient vibrations.

In the “lightsWith "," the user can customize the QuadCast 2 S's RGB effects, setting a solid light, creating flashing or wave effects, adjusting the animation speed and angle, and choosing specific colors for different effects. It's also possible to combine multiple effects simultaneously, saving them directly to the microphone's memory, and customizing it to match your setup.

Price and availability
Now available in Brazil, the microphone HyperX QuadCast 2 S can be found by R$ 1.757,37 at Amazon. It's a very expensive price, which may limit interest in purchasing.
Conclusion
the microphone HyperX QuadCast 2 S It remains one of the best options in the industry for content creators, streamers, podcasters, and YouTubers. The evolution compared to the previous generation is clear, accompanied by an improved design.
Even more convenient access to general functions, via the multifunction button or the Windows app, should please even more those already familiar with the line. Perhaps its only drawbacks are the price (R$ 1.757,37 at Amazon) and the lack of a dedicated button to facilitate noise cancellation, although this can be supplemented by features on the user's own PC. We recommend purchasing.
