After being displayed at Samsung's connected home in Mexico, the company brought the model to Brazil for those who want to have a smart refrigerator with an intelligent personal assistant. Bespoke AI Refrigerator with AI Home Display will be sold from today with the initial price of R$ 23.999. Check out all the details.

In addition to having a glass door with a screen, which we will talk about later, the Bespoke AI Refrigerator with AI Home Display arrives in Brazil with a capacity of 543 liters, divided into: 359 liters for the refrigerator and 184 liters for the freezer.

The company has applied its proprietary SpaceMax technology, a design and engineering innovation applied to refrigerators and washing machines that enables a significant increase in internal capacity without changing the external dimensions of the product. In other words, you have more space to store food or wash clothes, but the appliance takes up the same space in your kitchen or laundry room.

The secret behind the technology SpaceMax is in use of a High efficiency thermal insulation material and thinner walls. In refrigerators, for example, the Samsung uses a more compact and efficient urethane insulation, which allows for a reduction in the thickness of the internal walls. This reduction, which may seem small, results in a considerable gain in liters of storage capacity.

Another interesting detail is the soundbar built into the door, which in addition to allowing you to hear Bixby's voice, also allows you to watch videos on YouTube directly on the nine-inch screen and even listen to music on YouTube.

interactive screen

The new food-recognizing refrigerator stands out for its advanced 9-inch interactive screen, called AI Home. This panel works as a smart command center directly on the refrigerator door, allowing complete and visual management of your kitchen. Through it, the user can manage recipes and even track the food that is placed and removed, optimizing meal planning and weekly shopping in a practical and innovative way.

In addition to being a tool for food management, the AI Home screen transforms the refrigerator into a true hub for the family's daily life. It allows access to a variety of applications, which makes it possible, for example, to listen to music, watch videos or access news while in the kitchen. This functionality expands the role of the appliance, converting it from a simple refrigeration device to a central point of entertainment and home organization.

The main innovation of the display, however, is its ability to integrate with the connected home ecosystem. Through the app SmartThings, AI Home becomes a control center for several other smart devices in the home, such as televisions, robot vacuum cleaners, washing machines and air conditioners. The user can also adjust the settings of their own refrigerator, receive alerts when the door is open and monitor energy consumption, consolidating control of the smart home in a single, accessible dashboard.

AI use

Food control

Through the camera at the top, the Bespoke AI Refrigerator with AI Home Display comes to the market with the ability to recognize up to 37 foods automatically, but the user can also register another 50 foods manually. The idea is that whoever lives in the house has control over what goes in and out of the refrigerator, but can also be alerted to possible expiration dates so as not to waste the food.

In addition to allowing you to register possible foods, the new refrigerator can suggest recipes using what's inside it, like a kitchen assistant. When you enter the recipe you want to make in the SmartThings app and the number of people expected for the evening, the system even indicates whether you have what you need for the expected guests. If you don't need the items, you can add them to your smartphone's shopping list.

Another feature of Samsung's new refrigerator is the ability to see everything stored directly on your smartphone screen, available for both Android and iOS. See these examples below:

Use in the connected home

Another good use is to control other possible appliances that you have at home and can be controlled remotely. The idea is to allow owners to have a whole range of equipment in the kitchen. overview of what is happening in the house, in addition to giving commands for actions (this is done by voice or by touching the screen).

For example, if you have a connected washing machine, you can receive notifications directly on your refrigerator that the wash cycle has finished. You can also fully control the air conditioning temperature on your food-recognizing refrigerator.

Energy saving

Regarding energy savings, Samsung highlights that there is an energy saving of up to 10% compared to the previous model. The company takes advantage of the module AI Energy Mode, present in SmartThings, to monitor and indicate settings that will result in a lower electricity bill at the end of the month.

In fact, as is already the case with other connected appliances from Samsung, it is possible to see the energy consumption in real time, after registering the cost of KW/h the region where you live. It is an important factor that helps predict the models' electricity costs and also brings greater and greater savings over time.

Gabriel Souza, product supervisor for the White Goods division at Samsung Brazil, also highlighted that the new connected refrigerator has been trained with product manuals from the Korean company to help users get the most out of their purchases.

If you have another Samsung device at home, just ask Bixby, Samsung's personal assistant, for usage tips. The company says that a few simple commands, such as the name of the device and “how to use”, are enough to provide a complete explanation.

Natural commands in Bixby

In the Samsung Bespoke AI refrigerator, Bixby’s “natural commands” represent a significant evolution in voice interaction. Instead of requiring rigid, pre-defined phrases, Samsung’s virtual assistant is now able to understand the way people actually speak, with nuances, context and even multiple requests in a single sentence. This is made possible by a breakthrough in Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing (NLP).

With this, you can even ask the refrigerator doors to be opened with just a voice command, if your hands are full.

Bixby can interpret the context of a conversation and retain information from previous commands. For example, after asking to see a recipe on the screen, you can simply say “add the ingredients for this recipe to my shopping list”, and Bixby will understand which “recipe” you are referring to. This capability, known as “Multi-Turn”, makes the conversation with the refrigerator much more fluid and intuitive, eliminating the need to repeat information.

Additionally, the assistant can handle complex commands that involve multiple actions, or “Multi-Intent”. You could say something like “Bixby, check if I have eggs and show me an omelet recipe on the screen”. Bixby will process both requests at once. Integration with technology AI Vision Inside allows her to visually check the inside of the refrigerator to answer the first part of the question.

Other examples of natural commands include:

  • Refrigerator Control: “Bixby, open the refrigerator door” or “Set the freezer to minus 18 degrees.”
  • Day to Day Management: “Read my schedule for today,” “Set a reminder to buy milk,” or “Play a jazz playlist.”
  • Screen Interaction: “Search for cooking videos on YouTube” or “Show me my vacation photos.”
  • Device Diagnosis: “Why is the refrigerator making a strange noise?”

An innovative feature that enhances this naturalness is the Voice ID. Bixby can recognize who is speaking and personalize the experience. By identifying your voice, it can, for example, display your personal appointments, photos or favorite playlists, making the interaction truly personal for each member of the family.
