The new processor features a CPU Qualcomm Kryo with eight cores, five of which are high performance, offering a 30% increase in performance compared to previous generations, in addition to a 20% improvement in energy efficiency, according to the company. The solution is composed of a maximum performance Cortex-X4 core, five high-performance Cortex-A720 and two high-efficiency Cortex-A520. The Cortex-X4 reaches 3,3 GHz, while the A520 duo operates at 2,3 GHz The five A720s are subdivided again, with three of them running at 3,2 GHz and the other two reaching 3,0 GHz.

Additionally, the GPU Adreno has been enhanced to deliver 25% better performance, 25% more power efficiency and 1,5x more ray tracing capabilities, making your gaming and streaming experience faster, clearer and smoother.

Another innovation is the improved Neural Processing Unit (NPU) Hexagon, which brings improvements to all accelerators, covering data in vector, scalar, Tensor formats, among others. This is complemented by a dedicated power system, higher frequencies, increased cache and direct communication with LPDDR5X memories. These advances result in an impressive 98% increase in processing speed compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, as well as a 40% improvement in energy efficiency.

O Sensing Hub, a key part of the platform aimed at managing and processing sensor data on mobile devices, has also seen significant improvements. It promises a 3,5x increase in AI performance, thanks to the addition of 30% more memory, twice as many accelerators, and support for the INT4 data format. Despite having lower precision, INT4 is calculated faster, allowing a considerably greater number of operations to be carried out.

Artificial Intelligence

The company also presented the Qualcomm AI Engine. This cutting-edge artificial intelligence engine is designed to perform generative tasks on mobile devices. The new feature supports multi-modal generative AI models, including large language models and visual language models. The big highlight is that all of this is executed directly on the devices, guaranteeing better results for users without dependence on the cloud.

“With the integration of AIs into the smartphone, we are approaching a major transition, similar to the arrival of the smartphone. Furthermore, the advantage of using AI directly on your smartphone or PC, without the need to connect to data centers, guarantees privacy, speed and operation even without internet””

Cristiano Amon, CEO of Qualcomm

The main features are:

  • Fast Imaging: The engine is capable of generating images in a fraction of a second, allowing the quick creation of multiple options or the instantaneous generation of content for social networks.
  • High Speed Text Processing: Large-scale language models can run at rates of up to 15 tokens per second, ensuring agile response from the personal virtual assistant.
  • On-Device Customization: O Qualcomm Sensing Hub can safely utilize user data such as activity preferences, fitness level, and location to provide more personalized virtual assistant responses.
  • Significant Performance Improvement: The Qualcomm Hexagon Neural Processing Unit (NPU) sees a performance increase of up to 98%, with an energy efficiency improvement of up to 40%.
  • Notable Improvement in AI Performance: Qualcomm Sensing Hub demonstrates up to a 3,5x increase in AI performance.

Photos and videos
