Furthermore, by bringing new design features, for example, the Sony also seeks to be closer to its competitors, which is demonstrated in the specifications of the Sony Xperia 1 VI. One of the biggest attractions of this model, which is part of the company's Premium line for 2024, is the new screen. However, the Xperia 1 VI also promises more robust performance, with processors Snapdragon and batteries that last longer.
screen and design
The new Xperia 1 VI da Sony brings innovations to the screen. Abandoning the 4K OLED and its 21:9 aspect ratio, the company is betting on a more conventional display, used in most smartphones Premium, and now features a screen FHD OLED 6,5 inches and 19,5:9 aspect ratio.
Furthermore, the screen has more brightness: it is now 1.300 nits as opposed to the 900 nits used previously. In this sense, the panel Xperia 1 VI it also has a refresh rate ranging between 1 and 120 Hz.
The smartphone can be found in black, silver, platinum or khaki green and its body is covered with tempered glass on the front and back. The screen uses technology Gorilla Glass Victus 2, quite resistant to falls on rough surfaces.
Cameras
The cameras in this version of Xperia they bring accentuated changes, which differ from those of previous models, even if they use a similar system. Therefore, the Sony Xperia 1 VI brings with it a 48 MP main camera and lenses Zeiss, with a mode capable of capturing photos at maximum resolutions.
This lens has a 24mm f/1.9 aperture and is capable of offering optical image stabilization, compensating for blur or shake. The device's ultra-wide lenses appear in 12 MP f/2.2 format, reaching up to 16mm in focal length.
However, what draws the most attention is the zoom. Using the same sensor as other models, 1/3,5”, the innovation is that the Xperia 1 VI It has a module with an optical zoom of 85 mm – 170 mm, which allows a greater range, from 3,5x to 7,1x, unlike the 85 mm – 110 mm lens.
Another new feature includes closer focus for the camera, as well as another “tele-macro” mode, at 120 mm. The camera, when used with zoom, has a fixed close focus for objects up to 4 cm away and is capable of magnifying the image 2x.
Performance
The new Xperia 1 VI has a processor Snapdragon 8 Gen3 of 12 GB of RAM. The curious thing is that the processor is the same one used in phones from rival brands, such as the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.
The device will be sold at Europe with the option of 256 GB of storage, while in Japan and on the Asian continent, users will be able to find the 512 GB version. The smartphone also offers the option of memory expansion, with space for a card microSD.

However, when it comes to the presence of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Sony guaranteed that it will only be used to improve the smartphone's content and not to generate new content, for example. According to the manufacturer, the Xperia 1 VI's AI will be dedicated to eye tracking or white balance, that is, to functions already existing on the cell phone.
