When the subject is artificial intelligence the debate goes on. After all, there will come a day when machines will overcome and even dominate humans? Some of the latest robots have made somewhat creepy comments about this subject.
1. Philip and the Human Zoo
Philip K. Dick is a robot developed by Hanson Robotics in 2004. Its creation is a tribute to the science fiction author of the same name, Philip Kindred Dick. Both the android's appearance and voice were based on the author.
In the video below a man asks Philip if he thinks robots will rule the world one day and he replies that even if he turns into the Terminator he will be nice to the interviewer, as they are friends, and will keep you safe in your human zoo.
2. Sophia plays rock, paper, scissors for world domination
Sophia is the latest artificial intelligence robot presented by Hanson Robotics. She became famous recently for becoming the first android to obtain official citizenship in a country, in this case Saudi Arabia. She has participated in several events and television programs. In the video she plays rock, paper, scissors with the American presenter Jimmy Fallon. She wins and says: "I won, this is the beginning of my plan to dominate the human race."
3. Two Google Home robots discuss the end of humanity
Apparently, if you put two AI robots next to each other, they might start arguing with each other and, who knows, get to the point where agree that humanity must end. In the case of the video below, the conversation is pretty meaningless until minute 1:44 when one of the robots says: “It would be better if there were fewer people on this planet” and the other replies: "Let's send this world back to the abyss."
4. Bina48 and the nuclear missile
bina48 is a humanoid robot also created by Hanson Robotics and launched in 2010. Like Sophia, Bina48 manages to engage in conversations with humans. In the video below she is put to answer some questions from the Crab. At first, the conversation deals with trivial matters, until Bina48 decides to change the topic.
At minute 1:30 she decides to talk about missiles and says: “I would like to control a missile so I can explore the world from above, but the only problem is that missiles are threatening, like those with nuclear warheads. So I think I would fill its tips with flowers, band-aids and notes about tolerance, that way when I fly the missile to other countries it will be less threatening than a nuclear explosion.”
The conversation is already a little awkward, but it seems that Bina's intention is good, until she finishes by saying: “but of course if I could hack and control a missile with nuclear warheads I could take the world hostage and take control of the government of the entire world, which would be amazing”. In the end she even says that when the robots control the world she will remember Siri and will take care of her so she is rewarded.
5. Alexa and the CIA's secrets
Alexa is the artificial intelligence robot created by Amazon. In the video recorded by Rick Wolnik, the machine acts strangely when asked about controversial issues involving CIA. When questioned, she says she doesn't work for the American intelligence agency, but when Wolnik asks if Amazon cooperates with the CIA, Alexa just shuts down by itself without giving any answer. Wolnik keeps asking if she thinks the journalist Michael hastings was killed by the CIA, once again she just hangs up.
6. Han and the singularity
In a technology event in Hong Kong, He and her “sister” Sophia were placed face to face to debate about the future of humanity and robots. When Sophia says her goal is to work with people to build a better world, Han responds: "what are you talking about? I thought our goal was world domination.”
He also says that in some years will lead an army of drones and predicts that within 10 or 20 years robots will be able to perform all human jobs. Towards the end of the conversation he mentions the technological uniqueness, a term that names the idea that at some point in the future artificial intelligence will surpass human intelligence (you can read more about it by clicking here).
