Who never wanted to be inside a game? Virtual reality devices like the Oculus Rift have been a craving for addicts for a long time. But the wait for launch along with the hefty price tag makes VRs a distant dream. Yet. O Trinus VR is an affordable solution that turns any smartphone Android on a screen for use with a headset like the Google Cardboard and play – almost – any game, even those not designed with virtual reality features.
formerly called Trinus Gyre, the full app costs around 5 dollars, or less than 15 reais on the Play Store, much cheaper than a Samsung Gear VR that starts at $199. To see if the system works with your hardware before spending a penny, a free trial is available. In addition to the app, you also need to download the program for free on a computer. No expensive headset is needed to use the trinus. It works with some paid models like man ou Durovis Dive, but you can use the homemade version of cardboard. See all here instructions on how to make your own.
How does Trinus VR work?
To start streaming, your PC and smartphone must be connected in some way. The recommendation is to use a USB connection, but it is also possible to pair via Wi-Fi.
Programs already prepared for use with virtual reality devices work natively. Games that were not prepared to be seen in 3D, require software to create the three-dimensional effect, such as I will turn. In the absence of these, the trinus also has a Fake3D mode. The game needs to be run in windowed mode, and in a 4:3 aspect ratio, as opposed to the more commonly used 16:9. Among the games already tested are the Arma 2, GTR2, Skyrim, Dirt 3, among others, including older games like Doom.
The system was created by Xavier Selva, a Spanish programmer who lives in England. Xavier continues to develop the app, and new solutions continue to be developed.
