O Xiaomi 14Ultra arrives with a slightly more refined design compared to its predecessor, offering three different finishes. The backs of the models use ecological material, with the black and white models made of synthetic leather (weighing 224,4 g), while the blue one features the Dragon Crystal at the rear, with 229,5 g. There is also a special edition in titanium, weighing 229,6 g. The aluminum frame adds sophistication while maintaining the device's structural integrity. The 14 Ultra's design has done away with the abrupt bezel around the camera island, with the lens-like module now gently sloping above the back panel.

The new neural chip Xiaomi AISP is the biggest news in the camera, billed as the world's first large AI model computational platform focused on photography. This chip uses four AI models — FusionLM, ToneLM, ColorLM e PortraitLM — to improve image results, especially when using digital zoom of 30x or higher. Xiaomi has kept the camera formula Quad 50MP (0,5x + 1x + 3,2x + 5x) and largely preserved the hardware. The main camera is equipped with the sensor Sony LYT-900 1 inch, as well as an improved design and faster reading.

This lens maintains its technical specifications of 23 mm dual aperture, but now has an aperture alternating between f/1.63 and f/4.0. This means you can capture up to 136% more light than the f/1.9 – f/4.0 lens present on the 13 Ultra. Xiaomi describes the mechanism as continuous aperture, suggesting it can operate at any aperture between f/1.63 and f/4.0.

The company had named the 13 Ultra's lens as Simmicron and has now dubbed the 14 Ultra's as Summilux — in the terminology of Leica, “Simmicron” corresponds to an f/2 lens, while “Summilux” represents an f/1.4 lens. Technically speaking, the f/1.63 aperture of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra does not fit into this classification, but the reasoning of the marketing of the smartphone follows this line.

The main camera of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra has the ability to capture images in UltraRAW, supported by a DNG format which contains all the image data. Zoom lenses include a conventional 3,2 x 75mm f/1.8 periscope and a 5 x 120mm f/2.5, both sharing the same 858/1-inch Sony IMX2,5 sensor featured in the 12mm f/1.8 ultrawide lens. 120. The 3.0mm periscope has been upgraded from an f/2.5 to f/XNUMX aperture.

In a comparison made by the company, the 120 mm f/2.5 lens, for example, captures 196% more light than the iPhone 15 Pro Max and a difference of 474% more than the iPhone 15 Pro. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra offers the Ultra Zoom feature of up to 30x with AI technology, recognized by Xiaomi as surpassing the competition, presenting a series of comparisons during the launch event of the 14 Ultra.

Another highlight is the minimum focusing distance of the two Zoom lenses. The 75mm can focus from 10cm away, while the 120mm starts focusing from 30cm. In terms of video specifications, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is on a similar level to the Galaxy s24 ultra, offering 4K recording at 60fps and 120fps — exclusive to the main camera — as well as 8K video capability.
