New in Brazil, Realme 7 Pro costs a hefty R$2.499, but it tries to make up for it with a good hardware package, good cameras and the best charger on the market

O Realme 7 Pro is one of the most powerful smartphones from the Chinese manufacturer and was chosen to be the brand's debut in Brazil. With the suggested price of R$ 2.999, the device arrived here in January, accompanied by its more modest brother, the Realm 7. On the occasion of the launch, the brand also started to offer a pair of true wireless headphones and a SmartWatch over here.

Realme is already well known in Asia and, especially, in India, a market where it has a fierce dispute with Xiaomi. At the Brazil, however, it must also face competition from other brands, which makes the intermediate segment here as or more competitive than the Indian one. And in the face of these factors, the Realme 7 Pro needs to stand out to be worth the purchase of those looking for a new smartphone, but can it?

In the last two weeks, I've tested the device on loan and I can finally tell you the answer to this and other questions about it. Check out the review below.

Design

REVIEW: Realme 7 Pro arrives in Brazil and gives work to Xiaomi

O Realme 7 Pro it's a model premium intermediate, but that since the finish tries to persuade you to see it as a top of the line. Like many models today, the device has the back cover and frame made of plastic, but it doesn't feel like it's fragile or cheap at all.

On the front, the screen covers approx. 80% from the front, giving space for a small “chin” at the bottom and for the selfie camera, located in the upper left corner. On the back, the plastic cover has a satin finish, pleasant to the touch and that softens (but does not eliminate) fingerprints.

REVIEW: Realme 7 Pro arrives in Brazil and gives work to Xiaomi

In general, Realme 7 Pro It's nice in the hand and comfortable to wear. For the price at which it landed in Brazil, however, it seems very much like it deserved a bolder look and protection. waterproof. It doesn't have any IP certification, and while Realme claims the device is water resistant, I wouldn't risk letting it take a shower.

In the box, Realme included a silicone cover and the device already came with a film applied to the screen. Furthermore, it is worth noting that he has P2 connection for headphones, support two SIM-Cards and, although the appearance of the device does not bring anything innovative, the fittings are very well made and the device transmits solidity.

In terms of design, the Realme 7 Pro bets on cuisine. It has a look very similar to last year's Galaxy line, which is bad due to the lack of originality, but at the same time, it also gives it a familiar face and already accepted by the public.

Screen and Multimedia

Review: realme 7 pro arrives in brazil and gives work to xiaomi. New to Brazil, realme 7 pro costs a hefty R$2, but it tries to make up for it with a good hardware package, good cameras and the best charger on the market.

The screen 6,4 ", 20:9 aspect ratio and FHD resolution (1800×2400) has everything a OLED usually has: bright enough to read outdoors, vivid colors and deep blacks. Still, for a device that arrived in Brazil for almost R $ 3 thousand, the lack of a 90 or 120Hz display is really hard to justify.

While the Realme 7 features an IPS display with a 90Hz refresh rate, the Realme 7 Pro has AMOLED, but fixed at 60Hz.

In practice, however, it must be admitted that this does not mean that the 7 Pro performs poorly in front of competitors. a screen with high refresh rate It's a good thing to have, but the lack of one isn't exactly a problem.

This is because, even using a device with a of type, the user there's no need of that function. Furthermore, the absence of a with a high refresh rate also means that the generous battery (from 4.500 mAh, in the case of the Realme 7 Pro) will be better used.

At the same time that Not the end of the world have a slower screen, it is worth noting that the number of devices with high screen refresh rates should grow. The trend is that, in 2021, all premium intermediaries will have the function – which puts the Realme 7 Pro behind models that are already being launched and that will be released soon, such as the new ones. Galaxy A52, A52 5G e A72 da Samsung.

Even so, particularly, I think this is a point to be highlighted at the time of purchase. Unless you, the reader, already have a device with a 90 or 120Hz screen, you will not miss this function on the Realme 7 Pro, although it is important for the user experience and should soon appear on other devices in the same price range. .

Still with regard to the screen, it is worth mentioning that the Realme 7 Pro account with a fingerprint reader digital below . Although it is an optical reader, that is, inferior to the ultrasonic readers present in top of the line, the reading is usually fast and accurate.

Apparently, the Realme 7 Pro inherited the great biometric reader used in the models of OnePlus. Realme, it is worth remembering, is part of the chinese group BBK Electronics, also responsible for the brands Oppo, OnePlus e Living (which is not to be confused with the telephone operator operating in Brazil).

P2 Port and Stereo Sound

If the absence of a higher screen refresh rate may disappoint some, others resource of the past and which is also present in Realme 7 Pro must please. Contrary to the trend that reaches even cheaper devices in recent years, the model did not dispense with the dedicated port for headphones – although, interestingly, the accessory does not come in the box.

And if music is an important point for you, you should also be pleased that Realme's launch has stereo sound. Like most current devices, the model uses the call speaker to play media, which does not make the audio so immersive, in the case of this specific model, but reduce that feeling of low and depthless sound.

Cameras

Review-realme-7-pro-camera
Device has a 64-megapixel main camera. (Image: Showmetech)

As cameras are at the center of smartphone discussions today. Gone are the days when specifications represented what was most important in a device. Today, the ability to take good pictures, even in unfavorable circumstances, is one of the priorities of those looking for a new smartphone, especially if it is more expensive.

In this scenario, devices such as the Realme 7 Pro have a huge challenge. As intermediaries, they need balance a good photographic set and an aggressive price, which not all models can do. Fortunately, this was not the case with the Realme 7 Pro: it pleased me in the photos.

All in all, the Realme device has 5 cameras. The first one, the main one, has 64 SM of resolution and uses that famous technique of combining pixels to produce better photos at night. Additionally, this same lens still has an aperture f/1.8 and a large sensor (1/1.73”), which allows it to capture a lot of light even in low light situations.

In the day-to-day photos, I can say that I liked the high level of detail produced by the main camera. In general, the photos capture the light well, have balanced colors and are very sharp. This last feature even draws attention because most smartphones on the market smooth the images.

In order to reduce possible noise, many devices remove the sharpness and textures of the photographs, which does not occur so aggressively on the Realme 7 Pro. Still on the main camera, the HDR should also be praised, which seemed to me to be quite competent when it came to preserve the details of the lightest and darkest points in the photo.

In the photos in non-ideal light conditions, I confess that I found the night mode quite shy. This is because it doesn't seem to change much in relation to the normal photo – in the comparison I made between the photos with and without the feature, I could see only a reduction in noise, but no significant gain in luminosity. Fortunately, that doesn't mean the final shot is bad, just that the difference between shooting with or without night mode is barely noticeable.

Moving on to the rear auxiliary cameras, the device also has a 8 MP ultra wide camera. Naturally, this lens captures a much wider scene than the main lens, allowing you to shoot landscapes with much more style. However, as with any multi-camera device, the lens Ultra-wide is lower than the main lens.

In practice, this means that although the camera Ultra-wide is very good at taking pictures in ideal conditions (with good light), it will suffer in more adverse conditions. But this, it is worth remembering, it's not an exclusivity of the Realme model – it is like that in every device, they all have a main camera and the others, precisely because they are secondary, are inferior.

And speaking of secondary cameras, I remember that the Realme 7 Pro still has two more cameras on the back, but whose usability is questionable. The first of these is a depth sensor and that doesn't exactly work like a camera, but promises to improve portrait mode photos.

The second camera, in turn, is a macro lens. The macro camera is used to take pictures of very small and very close objects – like an insect photographed very closely, for example.

In the specific case of the Realme 7 Pro, the opportunity for a good macro photo depends more on the photographer's creativity than on the lens. This is because, as with other devices that bring lenses of this type, the macro camera is very limited, serving only for this type of photo (of very small and very close things).

In short, it is something that few people will use and many people will forget that it exists in the device.

Finally, the selfies to Realme 7 Pro they are very good. The device exaggerates a bit in HDR, which makes the photos a bit artificial at times, but still maintains that level of sharpness that I praised in the main camera. The colors, on the other hand, are a little dark e contrasted, but this is more a matter of taste.

I consider the high sharpness a positive point, as, on other smartphones, the smoothing is always more aggressive in selfies, which reduces textures and mainly leaves faces with a blurred appearance.

On this device, however, in addition to the problem not existing with the rear camera, the front camera is equally consistent in preserving details. Still, if you like the smoothing effects, Realme's camera also lets you activate them, it's worth remembering.

In the end, I evaluate the photographic set of Realme 7 Pro like very good. If we consider its launch price, however, the device reaches around R$ 3 thousand and starts to compete with models like the Galaxy S20 and the Galaxy S20FE, which have considerably better cameras.

However, if we consider that the real competitors of this model are others, and that very possibly it can be found by a Lower price than the launch one in a few months, it is possible to say that the 7 Pro does have very good cameras (for a premium intermediate).

Hardware and Performance

With a game-ready processor, Realme 7 Pro runs the main titles of the moment. (Image: Showmetech)

O Realme 7 Pro is a top of the line in almost everything, but the processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G shows that, deep down, he really is a premium intermediary. This does not mean, however, that the device has difficulty running games or other heavy tasks.

In fact, it has become increasingly clear that, in order to achieve satisfactory performance in the Android ecosystem, it is no longer necessary to have a chip top of the line. In this sense, it is worth mentioning that the experience of using the Realme 7 Pro, whether for more demanding games or for using multiple applications at the same time, has always been agile e responsive.

In general, the device responds well to commands, supports software that demand more processing, including graphics, and don't suffer from choking. Thanks to the game-ready processor, even those long-lasting games are privileged, as the chip it has reinforcements to be more efficient – both thermally and energetically.

As for the rest of the hardware, there is nothing to discredit the Realme 7 Pro. In addition to the processor eight cores and 8 nm lithography, the device brings 8 GB of RAM memory, 128 GB storage and dedicated card space microSD. In other words, it is not necessary to have to choose whether to use a second chip or the memory card.

Finally, still in terms of sensors and devices, the Realme 7 Pro comes with full Wi-Fi (dual-band, a/b/g/n/ac), Bluetooth 5.1, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC, USB-C port and all those basic sensors (accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity and compass).

Interface and functionalities

Review: realme 7 pro arrives in brazil and gives work to xiaomi. New to Brazil, realme 7 pro costs a hefty R$2, but it tries to make up for it with a good hardware package, good cameras and the best charger on the market.
Realme UI is built on Android 10 and is inspired by the interfaces of Samsung and Xiaomi. (Image: Showmetech)

The interface used in Realme 7 Pro is Real UI, One skin greatly modified and with many features that resemble the One UI, from Samsung. In practice, the interface manages to be simple and easy to use, in addition to having several useful features – all without adopting very complex menus.

mounted under the Android 10, Realme UI, here in its version 1.0, has functions such as dark mode, native screen recorder, dedicated resources for games, Always On Display and even native app duplication messaging, which allows, for example, to use two WhatsApp applications with separate accounts.

And thanks to this good balance between the number of functions and the ease of accessing them, Realme UI can be considered one of best android interfaces among those available in Brazil. It's not as complete as Samsung's, for example, but it's also more direct to the point, which makes it easier to get to know and use the features.

So much simplicity, however, ends up being a negative aspect when it comes to visuals. This is because, from an aesthetic point of view, the interface uses many elements common to other skins, which makes it seem unoriginal and innovative. In short, as well as in the look of the Realme 7 Pro, the manufacturer decided to be “traditional” when it comes to the interface.

Finally, it is worth mentioning that the Realme 7 Pro do not come stuffed with useless apps right out of the box, which is a huge plus point of the Realme UI. In addition to the mandatory applications of the Google, the device has only the manufacturer's essential applications, including voice recorder, calculator, file manager, native gallery and others.

Battery

Review: realme 7 pro arrives in brazil and gives work to xiaomi. New to Brazil, realme 7 pro costs a hefty R$2, but it tries to make up for it with a good hardware package, good cameras and the best charger on the market.
When it comes to saving battery, a more modest screen and processor play in favor of the Realme 7 Pro. (Image: Showmetech)

We got to the point where the Realme 7 Pro more positively surprised me. Although your battery 4.500mAh is no war tank, the fact that the device's screen operates only in 60Hz – something that I criticized above – it helps a lot when it comes to save battery.

Likewise, the device does not have a “spending” processor, since it is a chip potent for its mid-range tier, but it's still mid-range.

Thanks to these attributes, the Realme 7 Pro showed a great autonomy battery life during the time I was with him. In the entire period of review, I lost count of the times I finished a day of heavy use with 55 ou 50% of charge remaining. All this, it is worth remembering, with the device switching between 4G and Wi-Fi, in addition to automatic brightness.

Fastest charger in Brazil?

review-realme-7-pro-loader
In addition to good autonomy, smartphone features an ultra-fast charger, with a full charge in 34 minutes. (Image: Showmetech)

Despite the Realme 7 Pro's battery being really good, that's not what surprised me the most about it: at a time when the tops of the line are losing the charger in the box, the Chinese debutant's device arrives with what may be the fastest accessory on the market. With the power source that comes with the cell phone, the Realme 7 Pro goes from 0 a 100% in less than 40 minutes.

The charger has 65 watts of power and uses the technology Superdart, which is the same used in the dash charger of OnePlus smartphones. Basically, as with any fast charger, the charging rate will decrease as the battery is gaining charge. With that, the Realme 7 Pro needs only 34 minutes for a full charge, but less than half that time (12 minutes) to go from 0 a 50%.

Is it or isn't it impressive?

Conclusion

O Realme 7 Pro arrived with the challenging mission of embarking on the Brazilian mid-range smartphone market. Initially, the device was released here at R$ 2.999, available in silver and blue, always with 128 GB of storage. Now in March, the model is still as good as at launch, but it can already be found by R$ 2.199 at Amazon.

This is an important change because, for this price, it is much easier to recommend it.

It has to be agreed that, in this price range, it is still possible to find the Galaxy S20 and the Galaxy S20FE, more sophisticated and powerful models than the Realme 7 Pro. Still, it is worth remembering that these are devices of another category, which do not compete with the device under analysis, and that despite being superior in almost everything, they are far behind when it comes to battery life e loading speed.

“Realme 7 Pro arrives with two things that Brazilians like and that have been rare: a good charger and a headphone port”

—Fernando Telles

In this sense, the Realme 7 Pro yes he has that highlight which I mentioned is necessary at the beginning of the article. The device doesn't have great features in terms of screen or design, but it stands out for having some of the best cameras in its category and, without a doubt, the best charger available in Brazil. And if you're the type of person who lives glued to your phone, there's nothing better than having your smartphone fully charged after leaving it on for half an hour.

Finally, I would say that the price of Realme 7 Pro really puts it in a delicate situation, as it bumps into several more sophisticated 2020 devices that are now cheaper. Leaving that aside, however, I believe that, among intermediaries, it is a great buy – especially if the price drops further in the future.
